Oh, right!
Shade also fires his Howdah gun at a group of browns not in the area of the poison cloud.

Fated holds position in a safe place while the ranged attack go off.
Snarf's psionic powers of the day are: ESP and Mind Control. (Keep in mind Snarf is of animal intelligence so his understanding of human behavior is rather simplistic.)

Fated makes his best judgement of who the leader of the cannibals might be, points him out to Snarf, and waggles his fingers in a creepy manner suggestive of using mind control to dominate this adversary and compel him to sit down quietly and soil himself.

Dream Stalker unleashes the insane power of the glitter bazooka. [1d]4 [brown]cannibals[/brown] must save vs. wands [target 13: 5, 12, 15, 17] and 2 of them are driven insane.
Rolling on the Insanity table from 1st edition AD&D DMG p. 83: homicidal mania and shizophrenia. It will be interesting to see how that plays out in future rounds; the immediate effect is that they break formation, diverting 1d=3 additional [brown]cannibals[/brown] from the charge. A total of 69-1 leader-2 insane-3 distracted = 63 cannibals in the charge!
Cannibal: Cannibals fight as 2nd level Fighting-Men, armed with pikes and morningstars. They have Plate armor and 2 Hit Dice. They have -1 morale due to embarrassment of their leader. Alignment is Neutral: they have no agenda with the Great Old Ones; their only god is hunger!

Andre's breath attack is an awesome burst of [1d100] ulfire! energy that inflicts damage equal to his HP just like a dragon.
Let's break and roll hit points...
Big Mama 9d12 ( 12 + 6 + 5 + 7 + 7 + 6 + 10 + 4 + 8 ) = 65 Big Daddy 9d10 ( 4 + 10 + 4 + 5 + 9 + 7 + 6 + 7 + 1 ) = 53 Little Brother 8d6 ( 2 + 4 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 4 + 5 + 4 ) = 28 Junior 7d12 ( 8 + 1 + 11 + 2 + 11 + 1 + 10 ) = 44 Princess 4d6 ( 6 + 1 + 6 + 3 ) = 16 Andre 9d12 ( 11 + 9 + 3 + 3 + 4 + 4 + 5 + 3 + 3 ) = 45 Snarf 2d12 ( 8 + 5 ) = 13
So Andre's breath weapon cloudkills 45 hp of 2hd cannibals. Did I mention these disciplined maneaters have d12 hit dice? Additionally, there is dense fog and no wind whatsoever, so the poison gas cloud hangs in the air, creating a barrier to 2d=12 of the charging cannibals!
Cannibal Hit Points ( 7 + 1 ) = 8 SNARF MIND CONTROL ( 10 + 7 ) = 17 HOMOCIDAL MANIAC ( 6 + 10 ) = 16 SCHIZOPHRENIC ( 4 + 2 ) = 6 DISTRACTED ( 7 + 8 ) = 15 DISTRACTED ( 8 + 9 ) = 17 DISTRACTED ( 7 + 11 ) = 18 ANDRE POISON DEAD ( 10 + 2 ) = 12 ANDRE POISON DEAD ( 12 + 10 ) = 22 - 15 = 7hp ANDRE POISON CHOKING! ( 7 + 10 ) = 17 GAS ( 1 + 11 ) = 12 GAS ( 9 + 11 ) = 20 GAS ( 4 + 3 ) = 7 GAS ( 2 + 7 ) = 9 GAS ( 8 + 4 ) = 12 GAS ( 8 + 12 ) = 20 GAS ( 3 + 10 ) = 13 GAS ( 5 + 6 ) = 11 GAS ( 7 + 12 ) = 19 GAS ( 6 + 8 ) = 14 GAS ( 11 + 7 ) = 18 GAS
21 out of the fight for now leaves 48! Prepare for the howdah pistol volley...

Arquebus vs plate needs 7 on 2d6:
breath 7, 10, 7 3d6=10hp KILL blasphemous blade 10 1d4=1 flesh wound devil maw 7 1d4=1 flesh wound serpent's scion 4 miss shade 8, 7, 6 2d4=6 leg wound
( 2 + 8 ) = 10 killed by Breath howdah gun ( 4 + 9 ) = 13 flesh wound blashphemous blade ( 1 + 1 ) = 2 flesh wound devil maw ( 11 + 10 ) = 21 - 6 = 15 wounded Shade
Of the 48 there are 46 with one kill (Breath) and one leg wound. These cannibals are hungry and disciplined troops who look like they know how to stick their pikes into the tender parts of a dinosaur.
Gunnery's squad of orange men is panicked and leaderless! Minion's squad of bone men is panicked and leaderless! Fated's 5 ulfire men can squeeze off a barrel or two of howdah-pistol slugs, or equivalent action, if their leader so commands?

Fated's 5 ulfire men open fire: 3, 7, 3, 4, 7... 2 hits for total 2d6=5, 3hp, wounding 2 cannibals!
( 8 + 10 ) = 18 - 5 = 13 wounded by ulfire men howdah ( 3 + 10 ) = 13 - 3 = 10 wounded ulfire men
45 cannibals continue the pike-formation charge... here it comes, brace for impact!

[brown]45 armored foot cannibals[/brown] wielding pikes charge the party! They are not intimidated by the dinosaurs at all and concentrate their attacks on the two barded brontosauruses: Junior on the one side and Little Brother on the other.
The cannibals have 2hd so they attack as 90 men. Armored Foot vs. Heavy Horse gets 1 die per 3 men, so they roll 30 dice and hit on a roll of 6. Additionally they get 1 die per man for their pikes for a total of 45d6:
2 + 4 + 3 + 1 + 5 + 6 + 1 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 3 + 1 + 5 + 6 + 1 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 5 + 3 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 5 + 2 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 6 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 5 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 3 + 5 + 5 + 3 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 4 + 2
9 hits, 3 against Junior (44hp) and 6 against Little Brother (28hp).
Junior is stabbed by 3 pikes for 3d12=19 and has 25hp remaining. Little Brother is impaled by 6 pikes for 6d6=15 and has 13hp remaining.
Thus concludes the surprise round. Initiative for Round 1: party 1, cannibals 6
Brace yourself for another wave of pike attacks!

Round 1 of the Cannibal Battle
45 pike attacks on Junior and Little Brother:
Little Bro: 5 + 3 + 2 + 3 + 3 + 6 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 5 + 6 + 4 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 6 + 4 Junior: 3 + 6 + 4 + 5 + 2 + 4 + 4 + 6 + 6 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 6 + 2 + 6 + 1 + 6 + 3 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 1
Little Brother is hit 3 times for 3d8=12 and clings to life with 1hp! Junior takes a grievous 9 hits 9d12=66 and is a pincushion of pikes at -41hp... Junior is slain and his riders thrown to the ground!
Breath: 3d10=12hp, Armored Foot Blasphemous Blade: 1d4+1=5hp, Attack Armored/Defend Heavy Foot Devil Maw:1d12+1=2hp, Attack Armored/Defend Heavy Foot
It is the party's turn to act.

((Ouch! )) Breath, BB, and DM group together, and attempt to retreat back from the charge. They'll attack with their Glaives if attacked. DS fires the glitter bazooka again, and SS fires the howdah gun again (Assuming Princess is still back away from immediate danger?). ((OOC: And if I'm not overstepping myself...)) Big Mama, furious at her slain child, rushes into the mass of cannibals and begins stomping and whipping her tail. Minion orders his bone men to fire howdah guns if available, otherwise to form a defensive line around Big Daddy. Gunnery, atop Big Daddy, let's loose with a blast from the radio beam turret and orders his men to fire their howdah's if available, or to stand ready with Minion's Men if not.

DS fires the glitter bazooka again, and SS fires the howdah gun again (Assuming Princess is still back away from immediate danger?). Breath and her two bodyguards fall back to a defensive position vs. the pikemen. Her [yellow]golden gauntlets[/yellow] enhance her grip on the glaive (it gains benefits of a pike). DS fires with the glitter bazooka and [1d] 2 cannibals fail their saves. The first is afflicted with dementia praecox and doesn't care about anything. The second suffers the delusional insanity that he is the true Constant Tyrant and tries to usurp command of the cannibal squad, winning [1d] 6 of them over to his cause in the confusion. The homicidal maniac from the previous round murders 1 of his teammates, and the schizophrenic develops the personality of an anti-cannibal missionary and converts 5 into pacifists. 45 - 14 = 31 charging cannibals! SS uncorks the 2nd barrel of her howdah pistol 2d6=10 a hit! for 4 damage wounding a cannibal who had 7 hp and the tally is 30 brown men. Big Mama, furious at her slain child, rushes into the mass of cannibals and begins stomping and whipping her tail. Minion orders his bone men to fire howdah guns if available, otherwise to form a defensive line around Big Daddy. Minion and his 4 bone men held back in the first round, but now they fire both barrels simultaneously! (2dd on a hit) Minion: 2, 5, 9 hit for 13hp, killing 1 brown man (29 remain) 4 bone men: 7, 10, 7, 9; 3 hits for 12, 16, 11hp, killing 3 cannibals (26 remain) Now here comes the Big Mama attacking as 3MH she rolls 6 dice and hits on 6: 1, 5, 3, 2, 3, 1... the pikesmen manage to keep the furious brontosaur at bay with their superior reach! Gunnery, atop Big Daddy, let's loose with a blast from the radio beam turret and orders his men to fire their howdah's if available, or to stand ready with Minion's Men if not. Gunnery easily hits with the radio beam (it has 10 charges left) for 4d6=13hp incapacitating 2 of the cannibals and leaving them staggering and bleeding from the ears. (24) His 3 orange men fire a two-barrel salvo: 6, 12, 7... 2 hits for 7, 3hp, a wound and a kill shot. But there are still 22 brown cannibals charging with their pikes!

Here comes Andre, as 3MH he rolls 6 dice: 4, 2, 1, 6, 2, 4. He crunches one of the armored cannibals in his mighty jaws for 5hp and his teeth shear through armor, flesh and bone! Shade reloads his 1 spent barrel and now his howdah gun is fully loaded.

Of the original 69 cannibals, only 17 currently threaten. The others are all killed, wounded, gassed, or touched by insanity. They must attempt a morale check. As Swiss pike equivalent they must roll a 5+ and roll [9 - 1 morale penalty] 8 = success and their mad hunger for flesh drives them to press their pike attack on the largest dinosaurs...
to be continued...

?? You mean like they're soldiers pretending to be fine young cannibals?? Shade uses his Sense Motive ability and comes to know that the degenerate cannibals have set aside their quarrelsome nature in service to some terrifying entity an order of magnitude more powerful than themselves. These brainwashed conditions provide dry tinder to the merest spark of insanity, as witnessed by the glitter bazooka's insidious effect: the insane men are appropriating others into their delusion, breaking formation and getting their pikes tangled up with their neighbors! [LOL at the 80s pop music reference!]

Round 2 of the Cannibal Battle
17 pike attacks on Big Mama Brontosaurus who has stampeded suicidally into the pikemen's disciplined formation. They roll 25d6 (17 cannibals attack at 2 men each = 34 + 17 for their pikes = 51 / 2 vs. medium horse):
4 + 2 + 6 + 2 + 5 + 1 + 4 + 5 + 3 + 6 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 3 + 3 + 6 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 3 + 6 + 2
that's 5 hits for 5d12=19hp! The mamasaurus is reduced from 65 to 46hp. She shrugs off the injury and continues to fight!
What are the party's actions for Round 2?

Everyone continues attacking (with Howdah if possible, or reloading if empty, or with melee weapon if engaged).
Breath and her two bodyguards will hold defensive position, they don't want to be overrun by the swarm.
Gunnery will switch to a howdah this round instead of the radio beam turret.
