Shade and the Yithian struggle to communicate with each other. The Yithian projects a series of mental images: one of his kind slithers into a circular apparatus and vanishes from sight; another stares into a crystalline device and disappears in a cloud of sparkles; a third leaps into an active volcano! The scene shifts to a jungle and the three Yithians each, separately, materialize from thin air. Shade nods in understanding. He turns to the others in the group and explains... **The Yithian are stranded here, their spaceship damaged beyond repair, and they're trying to get to a location where they can teleport... or use a wormhole... to return to their civilization. If I understand him correctly, three of them have made it to where they need to be, a set of coordinates in the Yathlogthotep Forest, but he has not. I will see if we can be of any service to him, for he protects the Jale man.**He turns back to the Yithian and nods in understanding. He tries communicating in full sentence form. **I understand. Four of you were stranded. Three of you have made it to the Yathlogthotep Forest. You need to get there. Where is your teleport point? Where is your wayline? We will help you get there.**In simpler words, he repeats, **Teleport. Wayline. Portal. Wormhole. Where.** and waves his arm around in 360 degrees and shrugs. He repeats the images of the circular apparatus, the crystalline structure, and the volcano. Then he sends the image of the fourth Yithian surrounded in a swirl of fog. **Where?**

The Yithian wiggles his flower-like head appendages and turns to slither back into the marsh!

Breath discovers that, not only is the tent not guarded from the outside, but there is a conspicuous lack of any dolm women milling about the camp... one would think they'd be emerging from their tents for breakfast right about now?

Shade looks to see if any of the Dino's are ready for travel.
He gathers anyone who is willing to come with him (his deep one minion, at the least) and follows the Yithian (Dino's or not).

Shade looks to see if any of the Dino's are ready for travel. He gathers anyone who is willing to come with him (his deep one minion, at the least) and follows the Yithian (Dino's or not). Andre is back to full health and ready to ride. The Yithian can scoot along on its "foot" at the surprisingly speedy rate of 12" compared to Andre's 9". It slows its pace and leaves an obvious trail so he and the Deep One can easily follow west toward the crash site. Shade attempts a Knowledge: Great Race of Yith check [1 in 6 chance] and rolls 1! Based on your literary knowledge of The Shadow Out Of Time please tell us [1dd] 5 interesting facts about this species... Is anyone else riding out witih Shade?

Breath gathers her bone women to her: the sax-wielding Devil Maw and Blasphemous Blade, trailed by the blissed-out Serpent's Scion. Absent is Dream Stalker, passed out in a nearby tent with her dolm hostess. They attempt stealth checks [2, 5, 5, 2] Serpent's Scion wisely calls a halt just at the edge of the the Crone's psionic barrier.
Breath and Serpent's Scion clench their daggers between their teeth and creep to the tent and stealthfully lift a flap of the tent. There is a circle of sea salt drawn around the inside of the tent. The nearest dolm woman is [1d6] 10" away from their peep-hole. The dolm women are gathered around the bride and groom, and they appear to be drawing or sucking some sort of invisible energy from them as they writhe. The couple fail their save vs. Paralysis [needed 13 but rolled 5, 10] and disengage to separate sides of the nuptial bed, totally spent and satisfied. The Crone sits on her high chair gazing contentedly with her milky eyes, mumbling and smacking her gums. She is in an opiate trance from psionic endorphins. So long as Breath does not cross the circle, she will not sense your approach. The dolm women form a circle and join hands, gently rocking back and forth. They seem to be softly chanting Flo - ower, Flo - ower...... The intonation rises on "Flow" and drops on "Wer."

Fated thinks it best to stay scarce -- he heads into the jungle with the others following the alien. He brings the Ulfires along with a curt toss of his head.

Noting that the Crone is occupied and unlikely to want to be disturbed, Breath retreats slowly back away. She decides that Dream Stalker knows what she's doing, but returns to the vicinity of the tent and waits out the second ceremony.
She would like to join the expedition to return the Yithian to its homeworld, but she doesn't want to abandon her henchwoman here if we're not coming back...

Fated and his 4 wise ulfire men easily follow the alien's trail into the marsh. Will you bring Snarf and/or any of the other dinosaurs or NPC's?

Breath is in no danger of being left behind; apart from her henchwoman there are also 2 ulfire men and 2 of the quarry brothers under the villagers' enchantment. Gunnery and Minion are still here along with their henchmen and the majority of the dinosaurs.

Breath (with 3 bone women), Fated (with 4 ulfire men), and Shade (plus 1 deep one) follow Yithy Yub Yub of the Great Race into the marsh.
In the Carcosan wilderness we must always check for wandering monsters... Negative.
The party uneventfully reaches the western shore. As you descend from the dunes to the beach, you have a clear view of the flying saucer crash site. A large area of the bay is strewn with floating debris, with a puddle of flaming fuel floating in the center.
The Yithian has communicated ahead psionically with the 3 others, and they are expecting your arrival. Yithy Cee Cee, the smallest of the group, studies you with a quizzical slant of its drooping appendages, while Yithy D displays no curiosity at all.
The 4 Great Race have been industrious through the night. They have gathered crash wreckage, beach trash, stone, shell, wood, and plant fiber, all neatly sorted into piles. Some of these they have begun to assemble into the skeletons of various machines and contraptions. Out of driftwood and the fabric of their parachutes, they have constructed a large dome tent above the high-water mark. It is from within this tent that all (not just Shade) hear a booming telepathic voice:
Greetings and salutations! Yithy Yaa Yaa has traveled through space and time and learned much of your species! I bring a message of joy to the world! We, like, totally parked our space ship right over there, we will trade it to you for 4 one-way rides on your teleporting machine?

Sensing the previous invitation did not have the desired effect Yithy Yaa Yaa, the psionic entity within the tent, pauses for a few seconds, and then broadcasts a new message in a different tone of voice:
We believe in scientific method, replicable experiments. Much scientific knowledge secrets in store! Many technological data you give ride on antimatter transmat!

Yithy Yub Yub (the first of the Great Race to make contact at the campsite) grows impatient. TRANSMAT TELEPORTER WORMHOLE TESSERACT ROCKETSHIP DIRIGIBLE JETPACK HELICOPTER "What my less traveled counterpart is trying to say," interprets Yithy Yaa Yaa, "is that we will trade you salvage rights to this alien vessel crash site in exchange for passage on your most rapid intercontinental transit."

We can get you that. Now, let's talk about this salvage..." Yaa Yaa broadcasts from the tent: "I have traveled space and time and swapped minds with many lotus smokers. But astral projection alone cannot fulfill our quest; body and mind are joined together for this stage of our mission." Yithians B and C congregate near the piles of junk on the beach, clicking their claws in what passes for their native "language." (Does anyone one want to spend a bonus language to understand it?) They have been industrious, sweeping up and down the beach for miles in each direction, gathering interesting bits of flotsam and jetsam with their gigantic tentacles. Wood, metal, glass, canvas, rope, wiring, plastic, bones, shells--all have been separated and sorted into piles. And then there's the interesting stuff, the things not of this world, that the creatures have recovered from the crash. It looks like the Yithians have harvested some choice bits to begin work on a machine of some sort. "What is the technology level of this time and place? How do you travel by space, sea, air, land? Are there nearby cities or centers of technology and learning? Do you know any spells or sorcerous rituals we can trade?"

(Sorry... ended up falling asleep after putting the little one to bed last night. Can't tell you the last time I've ever gone to bed at 8:30 pm. Anyway...)
Shade communicates to the rest of the party **I wonder if the University has any form of transportation that might aid them. We can have three of them wait here while we get the head, then we can stop by here again to pick them and the refuse up and take it all back to the ship. Once we have it all loaded up, we can head back to the University and present them with their head, salvage from a space ship, and determine if we may be able to aid them in returning home.**

Shade eavesdrops on the claw-clicking dialogue between the two Yithians. Unit B is summarizing the conversation for the benefit of Unit C, who apparently lacks telepathic abilities. You notice that Yithy D stands apart, sullen and uncommunicative.
Yaa Yaa summons you into the tent and reveals itself: The largest of the four Yithians, it is badly wounded. Its tentacles are stretched out in a sort of traction device suspended from the dome of the tent. This one is clearly the eldest and most experienced of the things, and its psionic power is overwhelming, but physically it is in sad shape: shrapnel wounds, bent tentacles, and a nasty type of burn you've never seen before. "Do not weep for me, this species is not wired to feel pain... but visual inspection confirms the damage is severe."

Fated: "What the hell are you talking about? Do you have gold? Dangerous weaponry? We are in need of both, can you give them to us?" "If you have any copper, we are willing to barter for knowledge. Gold is of no value to our mission, and we carry only our own personal sidearms. Perhaps high-tech weapons can be salvaged from this crash site, though the technology of the grey race from space is alien to us as well."

Meanwhile Breath stands guard and watches the situation unfold. Scanning the horizon, her floating-in-transparent-flesh eyeballs gaze across the bay. Miles across the water a rocky bluff rises from the Haunted Swamp. Even at this great distance, the stone hills appear twisted into monstrous and foreboding shapes. Legends say that the ancient people laboriously chiseled away at one of these outcroppings to reveal a fearsome humanoid visage within, under whose malevolent gaze they could conduct their blasphemous rituals.
Sweeping her vision counter-clockwise around the bay, Breath visualizes the crossing to the Isle of the Head. From their present position on the western of two peninsulas [the Flower of Sublime Wisdom], there is a short swim across to a large wooded island. Just off the northwestern shore of that island is a one-hex rock island where Breath can see a castle. From there, it is the longest swim of the voyage--three hexes of open water--to a small wooded island, and then another short crossing to the Isle of the Head.
[see map on page 1 of this thread... and OOC don't worry, we will be picking up the pace of overland travel a bit, you guys keep rolling such interesting wandering monster checks!]

The Shade stoops to examine the wounds and see if he can be of any assistance to Yaa Yaa. He wonders what the limitations are on the Princess's healing burst... (How many times/day can that be done, Mush? Could we use it to try and heal some of Yaa Yaa up? I think it's the least we could do for the kind of salvage we're talking about here. What does everyone else think? Plus, if we can find copper, we can trade for knowledge while we're traveling with them (i.e. more rituals!))

Dream Stalker the healer was left behind with the dolm women. Shade's skill is only 1-in-6 and he rolls a 2. The ruling on Princess's healing spores is 1dd/day. Today that number shall be... 8... so I'd say it's worth a try! We shall see whether the dinosaur spores will be effective on the alien physiology.

OOC: Well, I think we should use it. In fact, we should gather any of the injured together near the tent before we do it, in case it benefits the others, as well. We can wait a few hours for the others to chime in, of course...
(Which reminds me... I need to remember that Andre has a poisonous breath weapon he can use one time/day, as well.)
