Giant frog? I thought it said Frog Giant. That is a tough one. Yeah, the MM doesn't have much to offer in the "F" chapter. Flightless Bird Frog, Giant Fungi, Violet Now that I rethink it maybe Fungi, Violet would have been a better option. However they seem to be holding their own against the Froghemoth in the poll so far. I put them in there because they're famously encountered at the Moathouse in the Village of Hommlet. and since you put it that way -- a Frog Giant would be kinda awesome. I picture a 20 foot tall bullywug.

Almost..almost voted froghemoth.
That pic of the fighter getting swallowed whole however, really got me as a kid, and still does to this day. Also about 10 years ago had an amazing fun giant frog encounter with the Kids playing Crypt of the Everflame.

I'm a bit surprised, while I did expect the Flail Snail to do well, I really thought the Froghemoth was the MM2's chance to catch up, I didn't know there was so much love for Giant Frogs!
Frog, Giant 5 Flail Snail 5 Froghemoth 3

That pic of the fighter getting swallowed whole however, really got me as a kid, and still does to this day. This one? That's actually the illustration for the Giant Toad. The Giant Frog shows a frog with a closed mouth, bulging with what is probably a swallowed victim, but it's less obvious.

So I guess I'm gonna have to vote for Giant Toad now too when "T" comes up. I think 5E has a pic that is a nod to that frog...err toad...in the AD&D MM as well.

Quite a tough decision. Githyanki were my favorite Fiend Folio monster, but how can one vote against so iconic a monster as Gelatinous Cube, for crying out loud.

And the gelatinous cube slithers and jiggles the MM to the lead.
No surprise there.
I know a lot of people are fans of Githyanki/Githzerai, and they do look cool in that new Baldur's Gate video game, but I've never really gotten the appeal.
Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan is one of the best adventures, the Gibbering Mouther in it was quite memorable.

I love the aesthetic and the idea of the Hook Horror. I love old Godzilla movies and his design reminds me of the nefarious cyborg Gigan whom Godzilla often faced. For that reason alone (nothing trumps Godzilla in my book), I had to vote "Hook Horror" for H.

I didn't know what a hordling was, but after reading into it, I found them quite interesting. On the one hand Hordlings are one of the coolest things in the MM2. On the other they are too much hassle to use, you're basically randomly generating each one. Tedious. It can be used as a handy random monster generator if you're looking for ideas. I didn't see a better "H" monster to select from the MM2.

Russ Nicholson and Emmanuel art, mainly. Ok, I can appreciate that. Russ Nicholson is one of my favorite artists from that era. And he's still going strong! russnicholson.blogspot.com/

I didn't forget the MM2 entry for "I", there is no monster starting with "I" in the MM2!

I tend to avoid standard D&D monsters, so Hordlings are a dream come true in many ways.

There was something about the way this Jackalwere is gnawing on a (human?) bone that always got to me. Cool Trampier art.

I like your Beasties (#1) Though there is some def amateur press silliness- All the Worlds Monsters vols. 1-3 S&W Monstrosities (also some silliness) Monster Extractors for DCCRPG (technically they are not a Bestiary, but)

I voted Kuo Toa this time because I have a fond memory of running a village of Dagon-worshiping half-humans with fish man ancestry once, and at night they'd sacrifice unwary travelers on an alter and the fish people would come and feast on their entrails.

We are already up to the "L's" and still holding steady. The L chapter of the Fiend Folio has some of my favorite art from that book...possibly the best from all of 1e AD&D! Look at this glorious composition, it's almost Frazetta like:

I wonder if the Fiend Folio had looked like this if it would have a better reputation?

I wonder if the Fiend Folio had looked like this if it would have a better reputation? For my part, the original cover is pretty much it's best quality. I found little use for the FF at the game table. There was an excellent post and resulting discussion about the FF in recent months over at Grognardia.
