Dragons as wandering monsters in a dungeon have never appealed to me. However, in some campaigns I have given all dragons high intelligence and an innate ability to polymorph into human form - I can see a polymorphed dragon wandering a dungeon.
For a static encounter, I would either have to give them access to the outside world close at hand, or come up with some sort of rationale (imprisonment, torpor, insanity, etc.) to explain their presence in some room in a dungeon.

Great map! I really like how even the normal trees look kind of weird and otherwordly...
Great blog too!

Just spotted the thread on this on Dragonsfoot and decided to hurry over to post a link ... only to find that you've been here first! Great work, and an EXALT to you, crusssdaddy, for an excellent job! Hey man, DFoot's cool and all, but THIS forum is the home for all things CARCOSA! Glad you guys are liking it - it was fun to write! Good call on the hair for the "Flock of Seagulls" village being their badge of honor!

Strange Sights of the Doomed World Carcosa features a new encounter for each of the 400 hexes of the map included with the original Supplement V: CARCOSA booklet. Also included are several new monsters, items both sorcelogical and technological, a couple new lotus powders to snort, and some other junk. This was written specifically for use with CARCOSA, but anyone running a swords&sorcery, post-apocalyptic, or weird-ass game should find a couple (hopefully good) ideas to use. I am not particularly tech savvy so I'm not sure I did this online hosting thing properly, but if you wanna take a look try this link: www.mediafire.com/?djomnzznu1gIf it doesn't work let me know, and if you do download it and you like it or think it's lame, let me know that too.

Three sorcerous items from the CARCOSA supplement I will be releasing in the next week or so:
Crown of Unspent Days: Of unknown origin, this iron crown is plainly fashioned and otherwise unremarkable. If worn by a sorcerer of Chaotic alignment, the wearer will never suffer aging effects as a result of performing a ritual. Additionally, his minions need never check morale so long as the sorcerer remains within their sight. Any sorcerer of non-Chaotic alignment or non-sorcerer who wears the crown must save vs. spells or fall into a deep swoon, losing 1-8 points from each ability score; if any ability is reduced to zero or less death is immediate, otherwise one point is recovered per week after the crown is removed.
Crystal Chimes: This is a small set of three chimes, each one 5” long. They are made from a milky green crystal that is similar to jade, though much stronger (they are in fact impervious to damage). The jangling timbre of this instrument is extremely unpleasant to any of the named Old Ones (Cthulhu, Hastur, etc.) – any such being within 100' when they are played must save each round vs. spells at -6: success means no effect, failure means it suffers 1hp of damage and is unable to attack that round.
Gong of Distant Weeping: This immense nipple gong is a 12' iron disc with a copper/indium boss. The face is sculpted with a profusion of overlapping and intermingling polygons, and staring at the gong for more than a few seconds causes confusion for 2-8 rounds (no save). Striking the disc creates a sonic weapon effect with a range of 100'; striking the boss creates an effect identical to the sorcerous ritual The Curse of the Violet Mist.

Thank you for the game! It was a great chance to get a peek at Carcosa in action.

Do people have to have accounts to download from either of those places, or can they just click link and get it done?

I'm about to wrap up some supplementary material for CARCOSA and want to post it online as a free download. What's the best place to put it?

That's funny, because I picture Honest Abe paired up with Slash from Guns n' Roses - they're dressed up like Thulsa Doom's two badass henchmen, exept they both have their stovepipe hats on. Abe could be the one with the big hammer!

Love it, but you need to change the post rules so us non-blogger folk can comment. Regarding your 'Earthman' characters, what about Abraham Lincoln? Not killed by John Wilkes Booth, simply had his consciousness detached and transported through time & space to Planet Algol. You need some stovepipe hats in your campaign.

I like anything that dares the PCs to make contact with an Elder Thing! Maybe practitioner level could decrease the insanity chance, so that there's an enticement for PCs to try to get through to Cthulhu or Nyar...

If Dickie Dee has an ounce of respect for the dearly departed, he would redouble his drug-taking to honor the memory of Maggie Mort.
What are your drug rules?
