I don't think anyone uses spells, per say, heartless. Any one our side, that is.

Also how well do the Priest and Physician heal people? Do they use spells? Lastly if I pick my home language Rohirric to read/write/speak is there a common language we all speak together? Thanks. There are no healing spells, per se. Healing is done via knowledge of the healing craft and use of herbs. Westron is the common tongue of Men. With intelligence 7 you are allowed either; one tongue and literate, or else two tongues but illiterate. You have little need of books in any case... you have sword and spear.

Welcome to the forum sneakyhobbit, and also to Moria I don't promise Hobbits, but I do roll. Your dice have fallen thus; XP: 4 + 1 + 1 = 6 SP: 1 + 5 + 3 = 9 Str: 2 + 4 + 2 = 8 Int: 6 + 4 + 5 = 15 Wis: 1 + 2 + 2 = 5 Dex: 6 + 2 + 5 = 13 Con: 3 + 4 + 5 = 12 Cha: 6 + 6 + 1 = 13 sum: 81, average: 10.12

The henchmen are indeed men. Perhaps Celglin should have spent some time among the Beornings instead of idling in Laketown...

Okay, here's what I've got:
.~-= Eremin Sulk =-~. of Well, let's just say Bree for now
Story Eremin Sulk never 'ad much in life, but then neither did any of his neighbors. Kicking about the back alleys of Bree offered all the amusement a growing lad could want, and the road brought all manner of strangers through the town.
Eremin never forgot the first Elf 'e ever saw. Tall and aloof, Eremin immediately dubbed 'im as snooty. Claimed in passing to 'ave killed a troll (at least that's wot 'Arry said), and that 'ad to be wrong -- there weren't any more trolls. 'E'd never seen any.
Dwarfs were near as bad. Never meet your eyes, them. Look up at you as if sizing you up for deadweight. Lots of gold, though -- wonder where they got it?
'Obbits were all right, though. Grew a decent leaf, made a good wine or beer, always willing to invite you to a feed. Just don't press them -- comes of being short, 'e reckoned.
Eremin had cause to reconsider 'is opinions of these other races once Old Bill ran 'im out of town. It were a simple misunderstandin', it were, but there was no tellin' Old Bill that. So 'e was out on 'is own, findin' 'is way as an adventurin' man. And this was finally a life that seemed to agree with 'im. Sure there were still disagreements (mainly about division of loot), but that sort of fing could be sorted out. Eventually.

Okay, here's what I've got Very good Coffee, entertaining back story. Ripe with possibilities ;D A few of your missing stats are: With 9 intelligence you can know two languages. Westron would be your first one, and maybe the North Tongue as a second? Hit Dice : 3+2 (3d6 for a 4th level sneak, +2 for 12 con) Front AC: 5 Rear AC: 7 Saving Throw: 12 (+2 versus wands, rays, and breath weapons) Abilities STR : 13 ( --) (3 in 6) INT : 09 ( --) (2 in 6) WIS : 14 ( +1) (3 in 6) DEX : 15 ( +1) (3 in 6) CON : 12 ( --) (2 in 6) CHA : 10 ( --) (2 in 6) I have your total load at 14: 1 Short sword, 1 hand axe, 2 leather armour, 1 backpack, 1 bedroll, 1 lantern, 2 oil flask (x2), 1 trail rations, 1 week, 1 silk rope, 1 waterskin, 2 pennies (778). Your horse can carry it easily but it would be good to mark out explicitly what Eremin is carrying himself. Then you're good to go Coffee! Post Eremin on the PCs thread ;D

My shopping list. I will update the background now. Gear Sling (1 sp) Short sword (10sp) Backpack Rations (14 sp) Water Skin (1 sp) Grapping Hook (1sp) 60ft rope (2sp) Bed roll (3sp) Lantern, hooded (12sp) Tinderbox (1sp) Oilx6 (12sp) Pouch, belt (1sp) Sack (6cp) Journal, travellers (20 sp) Writing ink (1 sp) Quill feather (4cp) Whetstone (6cp) Locksmith tools (20sp) Shovel (2sp) Wealth around 997 sp and a few coppers Encumbrance Capacity = (My strength score) Load = 7 A good selection of worldly goods for a Hobbit... perhaps only lacking in fresh food? The total load of this gear is 19 (6 from oil flasks alone, 3 from your sack of coin, and 2 from your rope), which is encumbering for a poor Hobbit! You may want to hire a porter to help out... or else buy a mule? In any case, once you check out my comments here you can post Baraglin on the PCs thread

Some of you may have noted that despite the descriptions stating that Elves are "vanishingly rare" and Half-Elves "scarcely more common", the fellowship is set to enjoy an abundance of Elvish company for this upcoming delve...
This is nothing to worry upon for the Elvish blooded already present, but for any future PCs that may come along, Elves shall herein require 12+ intelligence, wisdom, dexterity and charisma, and Half-Elves shall require 10+ in the same categories.
I've updated the Men & Magic thread to reflect this adjustment.

OK. Late, but here's Dernfara - a WIP.
I assume one bundle of healing herbs is sufficient for all healing needs?
Is 4 daggers at 0 encumbrance pushing it? I thought I'd use these as his ranged weapons when on foot. Let me know if I need to reduce the number (since he's already at maximum "free" encumbrance).
I'm interested in giving him a horse brooch - an heirloom of sorts. How do you want me to price this?
Is there any penalty for a ranger tracking or moving silently in chainmail? That's why I bought the leather armour but if it's not necessary I'll remove it.
Can we purchase semi-precious stones as a way of transporting wealth, and what sort of values might they have?

OK. Late, but here's Dernfara Welcome to the party, boddynock. Glad you could make it In answer to your questions: I assume one bundle of healing herbs is sufficient for all healing needs? One bunch of herbs will have six applications. Is 4 daggers at 0 encumbrance pushing it?4 daggers will be 1 bulk equivalent. he's already at maximum "free" encumbrance.Well, your charger can carry 56 bulk units, so you don't have much to worry about there. I'm interested in giving him a horse brooch - an heirloom of sorts. How do you want me to price this?It can be free -- so long as you include it in your back story. Is there any penalty for a ranger tracking or moving silently in chainmail? There is no such penalty. Rangers can wear any armour they please. Can we purchase semi-precious stones as a way of transporting wealth, and what sort of values might they have?Let us say no for now. You will have to carry your coin with you in a poke. Here are a few other amendments for you... Your charger is a mighty animal! Surely s/he should have a name if not a breeding history as well. Might I humbly suggest something along the lines of Eogar (horse spear), Frumgar (first spear), Guthbrand (fierce-brand), etc.? You should have 13,000 XP (rather than 1,300). Your front AC is 3. 6(chainmail) -1(shield) -2(half of your 4HD) Your rear AC is 6 (chainmail). I think you have all the other numbers right, well done! A few lines of background for yourself would be awesome too... and then you're ready to post your sheet over on the PC thread.

Just waiting for boddynock, snorri (and possibly sneakyhobbit?) to post their finished up PC sheets now...

One question thou... no armour for Baraglin? He can afford Elvish mail (which counts as leather for Sneaks) from his heavy purse, and it would improve his AC no end.

Yes, no armor. A nice tweed Jacket, and a hat for sunny days Very well, in that case his front AC is 7 (base 9, -1 being for high dexterity, and another -1 being half of your 3 HD). His rear AC is 9.
