We're currently trying to spring Janet from the hospital where she's being held. We have her now, but we need to get out. We've had to tie up a couple of security guards and we're holding a nurse hostage until we make our escape. We were discussing where to go next, since we've also been hired to find someone else.
Grognard Day: If an old-school D&D player sees his shadow, it means his group will spend six more weeks playing 5E.

Hey all, I haven't really been on in a couple of months, but I'm ready to jump in if somebody can summarize what we are doing in one paragraph or so
To add to what tkdco2 said, here's ffilz's summary
While at Cheapside on the way here, the party met up with Hermenia Sergiones who told them about her husband Pablo who had gone to Bastinadi, possibly investigating an alien psionic artifact, and hasn't been heard from. She offered a reward for information or his return. He is believed to have gone into the "outback" here on Bastinadi which I think was the motivation to get the outback permits that resulted in a confrontation with someone from the Ludgates Clinic where Janet went missing from.
So where we stand now is you have Janet in hand, and could continue the search for Pablo or just drop that.
Your ship doesn't have the Generate program so you need to purchase jump tapes, usually only available for following the space lanes marked on the map.
If we're scouting the outback, doing so from the ship seems the safest bet yeah. If we see trouble we can just flee straight away.
If Janet is an Imperial citizen, will they offer her protection from the cult?
Once we get to some sort of safety we certainly need to debrief Janet before we do anything else. If the "Cult" is doing illegal Psi stuff, the ISS will want to know that. In the OTU the Imperium really, really frowns on that!
My suggestion is get get to the Scout base (in orbit) ASAP, debrief Janet, turn the info over to them...and maybe Janet if that's agreed between them...and then set the ship down somewhere in the outback. Scout ships can land in clearings, so we should be okay there, and then talk to the locals. Where we set down should be somewhere along the route the Professor took from the city.
As for the programs, I think it was the Generate program we didn't have and need to either get a lot more money...or spend an inordinate amount of time writing our own. Otherwise, we're going to continue to be dependent on buying Jump Tapes to get anywhere.
I wonder if the ISS would be so thankful we got some evidence against the cult that they would reward us with that program? Probably not.
My Imperium doesn't frown on psionics as much as the 3I, but they aren't popular.
Bastinadi is no longer under Imperial jurisdiction, which may be why the cult is operating here. The Scout base IS being maintained by the Imperium to keep an eye on the cult, so your information will be valuable to them.
They did kidnap an Imperial citizen from an Imperial world...
You would have to go to Class A or maybe Class B starport to purchase or acquire Generate. Yes, it would take a long time to write, and you need someone with Navigation-4 to help write the program.
You currently only have the Jump-1 program, so writing Jump-2 would speed your travel...
It hasn't been asked yet, I don't think, but how is Janet?
Can she tell us how she is and how she was treated by the folks that kidnapped her...*was* she kidnapped, or did she go with the Cultists willingly?
Does it appear she's been drugged? Experimented on?
Does she see us as rescuers or kidnappers?
Ah, yea, I missed some update... Once in the air/raft and she has a chance to catch her bearings and you folks a chance to give more explanation, she is glad you came to rescue her. It's possible they gave her some drugs that induced some confusion. She does not appreciate her seeking medical care for a broken hand turned into her being brought to Bastinadi and being run through some kind of brain/mental experimentation. Her hand is well on the mend at least.
