"Excellent, I'll be in touch!" Thaddeus grabs an armload of MREs, especially the stroganoff, and the latest edition of the TNS, and throws them in his backpack as he heads out. On the way he will purchase a couple different hats (safari, baseball/engineer's, maybe a turban, and he makes his way for the clinic. He will try to be as nonchalant as possible and stroll around counting entrances, sit at a bench eating a bagel, and try to learn everything he can about the layout and occupancy of the clinic. Ok, Thaddeus scopes the place out. People don't seem too concerned about him. There is some security but not overwhelming, like no one really is expecting trouble here. Staff coming and going look like the usual doctor, nurse, and other hospital staff as well as some that look likely to be researchers. There is very little traffic from people who might be visiting people there. There are also people in religious looking regalia. Thaddeus is able to spot an entrance in a back alley that would be a discrete way in, though landing an air/raft on the roof might also work. The building is 4 stories and is about 100 meters square, filling up a city block. There are ambulance bays, but they don't seem to be used.

Sharon will happily eat her grub, and enquire about any left on the plates of others. Logan says to Sharon, "I'll cook more. Every cook loves a happy eater." "So, tell me, how is it you know this Janet person we're searching for? Is she a friend, a good friend?" Logan asks, "I mean, would you know if she'd go willingly for psion research or training, or if she'd have to be coerced or forced into it?" Logan muses as he hands Sharon a big plate of tuna, onion and potato hash with eggs, "If it's the first, then we probably should just leave her be, but if it's the latter then we're doing right to try to pull her out of where ever she's been taken."

[ooc] You can assume that Janet would object to being dragged off. Of note too is that her apartment on Ludgates showed no signs of someone planning on leaving. Obviously until you speak to her, you don't know how she really feels, but it smells of kidnapping and coercion. [/ooc]

"The whole thing seems fishy to me," muses Sharon in between large mouthfuls. "Jan isn't the most organized of people, but she certainly isn't the carefree sort of bohemian who picks up and disappears without her things, or leaving any messages. I had to pick her up from the port once and she buzzed me every hour until I got there. If she went willingly, it's only because they drugged her, I'm sure of it."

"Well, then we'll have to find her and ask her if she wants to leave, I guess." Logan shrugs, "Might have to get her away from them and detoxed before we can be sure she's speaking her own mind, too." "Now, what about this Professor guy?" Logan takes a seat at the table, "He could have been picked up by the...cult, they seem like a religious cult to me, anyway." Logan frowns as he plays with his plate of food, "I don't much care for psions. The throught of somebody else playing with my thoughts gives me the willies."

Ok, I'll need to add some more to this, and locate other things, but for now, here's a local map and a front of the building view: The city blockStreet View

So the building takes up that whole block, from Rue d'Alger to Rue Joseph Morlent, and from Rue Guillemand to Rue Jules Avril?
Which part has the back alley way in?

Ok, so it doesn't really fill a block... And only a small part of the building is 4 stories, but here's an annotated image: I've labeled a few things and marked the alley way network in blue. The red box shows the extent of what seems to be the hospital. Feel free to go to the city map and use Street View to check the place out... Sadly you can't go down the alleys, but if you use 3D view, you can get a better idea of the alley space. Note there's a gate at the end of the big alley, but Thaddeus was able to slip in unnoticed when a vehicle went through. Here's a view of more of the city with the Permit Office also marked: And a view of the Permit Office. I'm not sure how much of the city to use and where to locate the star port, but at least there's some locations. If you zoom out more on the city, I'm tempted to use the big section of dark canals South East as the star port landing strip... The sea port definitely is not as well developed, the world is only TL-3, so while there may be a sea port of some degree, it only serves low tech sailing ships.

Wow, it's been a month and a half...
Do folks feel like they still have the energy to engage with this game, or should we let it go to rest?

It's possible life has been getting in the way, but the pace has always been slow. Maybe play out the raid or summarize it, then we'll see.

Yea, it would be nice to at least conclude the search for Janet. If you come up with a plan, I'll try and move it along a little quicker than we have been moving. Then after that, we can see if you want to continue.

Have we gotten all the intel on this place? This includes a place to land and take off again easily. And let's not forget their defenses, including the devices that may spot us and shoot us down. Also, I'm not up to psionics in Traveller. What defensive and offensive abilities do psions have? I assume a few of them would be able to know we're coming.
Alternatively, we can just roll some dice, figure out what happens, and wrap things up.

The professor shares that he has never seen any indication that psionic powers can be used anywhere near continuously enough to be usable as a surveillance system, rather, the powers of telepathy and clairvoyance are used to "check up" on things.
There are security cameras, but you could try a direct attack on them (electronics) or a computer attack, or just seek ways to move out of their view (the coverage is unlikely to be perfect).
There is a security guard inside the main entrance (likely armed).
The city itself doesn't have any "air defense" weaponry other than maybe there are some artillery pieces, possibly they could call on the star port. You're fairly confident of being able to zip in and out in the Air/Raft without major issue. If you really raise the ire of the constabulary you might need to deal with some small arms fire.
Any other bits you need to plan a raid?

Offhand, we should try to find the building's layout, what the defenses (manpower, firepower) are, who is located where. We may be able to take the guy who's in charge hostage in return for Janet. What do the others say?

Let's try computerizing ourselves into the system and look for a detailed plan of the building, roster and so forth. If we can't power down security systems while we're at it then that's good to.
If we can find a roof access point or window very close to Janet's room, then let's just A/R in, storm the the place at that point at get out right away.
If it we have to hunt and rescue then let's take the hostage option and go straight for the highest level person we can find. Maybe the computer records will show some daily schedules of who comes in and out, and we can use that to pick our target and time the ambush. Then we simply tell them to walk us to Janet.

Ok, Professor Durh tries to break into the computers and see what he can pull up. 7+3=10, looks good.
He is able to get floor plans, some roster information (looks like security is light, primarily a single guard at the main entrance and 2 roving guards), finds Janet and a room number. There is hint of extra guards (maybe 2) on her floor. Looks like landing the Air/Raft on the roof could be a good way in. Albert things from what he's found, he could hack into the security camera system and probably cause it to loop on "nothing going on" footage. There are cameras in the halls, so you'd want to cover those also.

Let's plan a route from the roof to her room. Make the cameras along those halls already looping normal footage before we go in, and we can also bring something to cover them up if our hack stops working.
Can we keep a feed going from the security system? That way we can have someone in the ship monitor the cameras and let us know when guards are coming.
Let's also be sure to leave a cheeky calling card in her room when we leave.

Let's also be sure to leave a cheeky calling card in her room when we leave. Once I get a second on this plan, I'll make some rolls. You can rig up some simple and easy to deploy "masks" for the cameras (you can also dress to be non-obvious). Assuming success at subverting the cameras, Albert will definitely be able to monitor the feed, watching the actual footage from the cameras and be able to switch cameras in and out of looping (like you don't want to be looping a corridor but not the connecting corridor and have a staffer disappear...).

Subverting the cameras: 12+3=15...
Complications roll: 5... oh oh...
Who's going in (and what are they packing), do you want to grab a white coat or two on your way out?

If we can nab a few white coats at a local clothing shop I'd like to do that, it might look less suspicious to an onlooker; an air raft zooms in and unloads a bunch of medical experts who scramble into the facility vs an air raft deploys a bunch of trenchcoat wearing ruffians! In fact if medics use black bags we might get a couple of those too to hold small arms and extra clips. Thaddeus is happy to go as part of the Brute Squad, with SMG and blade.

Good idea. If we can't find any coats beforehand, we can at least grab some along the way: if there's a wardrobe on our way to the room then we can make a planned stop o disguise ourselves, otherwise we can nab some clothes in the room on our way out.

I say Sharon, Jack and Thaddeus, they're best in a fight. The Professor can use computers from the ship, and we can take along Victor if he needs to be onsite for electronics.
