Hmm, I think the devilsghost generator gives an extra skill to Scouts (I interpret the 2 skills per term as including term 1). Nothing to worry about too much though...

Ok, we have characters from coffee, eris, ronin84, tdkco2, makofan, and foxroe
dtspurier has some rolled that need the skills re-rolled
scottenkainen and dohojar have expressed interest but not rolled PCs yet.
That's 9 players, which is a lot, but I'll make it work if you all still want to play.
So far we have two PCs with Scout ships. We could operate two ships, though I don't want to try and manage two play groups yet, or we could combine the benefits into building a 200 ton Scout.
A Type S Scout would not work for 9 PCs...

I don't think that's a Book 2 design, plus, I'll be very intentional in starting with at most a J-2 ship. I want the rift to be something that might be a goal to find a quick way across.

Maybe a converted Yacht, Free Trader, or Lab Ship? Or just make up a decommissioned/out-of-production 200-ton "survey" ship with Jump-2.

One option would be to gen up a mod of the Type K Safari ship, perhaps upgrading it's Maneuver Drive to M-2 at the cost of some cargo and/or staterooms. It has 11 staterooms which would allow a crew of 9 plenty of space and still allow for some passengers.

Thanks for the invite tho No pressure, but honestly, I'm not THAT familiar with the rules... I look at this campaign as a great way for folks to explore and learn the game without having to also absorb the depth of the official "Third Imperium" setting.

If Frank can handle it, I say, the more the merrier! There is always something for a Traveller to do. There are landing parties and ship board actions, not just combat but repair and maintenance, too. Every turret needs a gunner. The bridge can use a pilot, navigator, sensors and comm operator, computer operator. Engineering is often a two man job with operations going on while repairs take place. Exploring planets and systems often gets split between those on the ground taking close looks and those aboard ship taking overviews. Trading involves finding cargoes, dealing with locals who might want to obstruct or steal those cargoes, then getting the cargoes aboard, and off loading at destinations...and getting paid! If we take on passengers, we have to find them and then somebody has to cook and clean and keep an eye on them and take on potential hijackers, too. There's always something for a Traveller to do!

I like the 1/2 price "assistance only" grav belt, so cool with that. It needn't even be a used item. Max TL available to you folks is 12, so just back off that Vacc Suit to TL 12 and you're good. Ok, so to move things forward, Eris and foxroe should settle on one (or two) PCs, and we need to finish gear purchases.
You will also have to decide which of the two scouts is captain, and purchase 1 Mcr of software for the ship.
Note the starship operating expenses, including 10,000 CR for jump tapes (yea, until you get that Generate program, going places will be expensive...)

Go look at the Safari Ship deck plans and consider cabin assignments. Also consider what gear and supplies you want to purchase. I'll be working up some rumors and patrons to get things started in the next few days.
