MT's Character Gen is a good bit different from CT's: more and different skills to choose from and more skills per term as well. However, here's a CT character generator: devilghost.com/software/travellercharacter/Just keep reloading the page for more characters (F5 or Ctrl+R). What it doesn't do is show the individual rolls so I don't know if ffilz would let us use it. It sure would make things a bit easier for me if he would, because I'm having a heck of a time finding time to roll up characters right now and I don't want to get left behind. That one is fine, it shows enough history for me. It doesn't allow you any choices, but for someone time strapped, it works. Roll until you find a character you like. If you pass on some interesting ones, post them as potential NPCs. You may change weapon skills and vehicle skills on these if you like. What happens when the generator shows TAS multiple times? I have seen it as much as three times on one character...

The Devil Ghost one has some quirks (or outright mistakes, take your pick).
Scouts, for instance, don't retire. So they don't get retirement pay. And yet it's on the character if you serve long enough.
I'm just saying, there may be other oddities out there.

Retirement pay for Scouts of course can just be ignored.

I haven't had the time to roll up a character yet. Anyone who beats me to it can have my spot.

Here's another with the same generator:

So frank do I need to recollection or adjust? With just 1 and 2 terms, let's just have you re-roll the skills... For this one, take 4 rolls on the Bureaucrat tables: docs.google.com/document/d/1kS3h7JgF6CniH851034zBX0aPT-MhIggUO0yE_y0Jao/edit?usp=sharingHmm, the mustering out tables are different, but these results work (you might have got more cash from the Supplement 4 tables, or you might have gotten none... For this one, take 5 skill rolls on these tables: Personal Development "1" => "+1 STR", "2" => "+1 DEX", "3" => "+1 END", "4" => "+1 INT", "5" => "+1 EDU", "6" => "+1 SOC" Service Skills "1" => "Ship's Boat", "2" => "Vacc Suit", "3" => "Fwd Obs", "4" => "Gunnery", "5" => "Blade Combat", "6" => "Gun Combat" Advanced Education "1" => "Vacc Suit", "2" => "Mechanical", "3" => "Electronic", "4" => "Engineering", "5" => "Gunnery", "6" => "Jack-o-T" Advanced Education (EDU 8+) "1" => "Medical", "2" => "Navigation", "3" => "Engineering", "4" => "Computer", "5" => "Pilot", "6" => "Admin"

Frank, unless you say not to, I'm going to put all 3 I generated in the top part of the Ref Doc, but will delete 2 before we get going. One is a Gunner, another is a Steward type and the third is a Bribery expert . I figure I'll go with the Steward because most don't want to play that role and I don't mind. Wish he had Medical, though.

Okay folks, seeing as we generating several PC's to choose from, I wonder if it would be Kosher to meta-game a little and make sure we have PC's that cover the basics for flying a ship? I've got three guys. All have Pilot and Vacc Suit (I didn't cheat, it just worked out that way ), but 1 is a Steward/Medic guy, 2 has Gunnery and 3 is a Bribery savant. I'm leaning toward the Steward/Medic, but I'd like to see what the rest of the party thinks.

Oh, and if there's anyone who is unable to or doesn't want to log into Google+, just let us know and I (or someone else) will add your characters to the document. You shouldn't need to be logged in to read the document. Once we get going, players shouldn't need to edit the document too much (well, if you have player choice in distributing damage, I'll let you edit it in, but I can also do it). When we narrow down PCs to one (or two) each, I will move the unused PCs to a separate page of backups/NPCs, so no need to delete your extras. Frank

Captain Jack Hammer is a very competent army guy - he can shoot, carouse, lead, and drive. He has no ship skills, but I would really like to play him

This might be a handy guide when considering the PC to play.
If we're going to be flying a ship we'll need people to fill these roles:
Pilot Navigator Engineer Steward (if we're carrying passengers) Medic Gunner Electronics Op/Communication Op (?for comms and sensors?)
Pilot/Nav can be one person, but two is better to cover shifts. Depending on how Frank wants to play Sensors/Comms, we might need someone to fill that role. Steward/Medic can also be one person. Engineer stands alone, but having a spare is a good thing. We should have a Gunner for every turret. We can't write programs without someone with Computer skill and software is expensive in CT if you can't roll your own. Combat skills (including Tactics) also come in handy, so having an Army/Marine PC along is not a bad thing at all.

Mother is definitely a shipboard character. She can pilot/engineer/gun/first-aid/whatever... and she cooks! She prefers to stay in orbit, especially when laid over at a high-grav world, seeing as she's rather frail. So, I'll probably use the Leftenant for rock-side ventures. She's good for bar fights and brute espionage. Frank - I updated the Leftenant's stats to reflect your "Other" service house rule of two skills per term. I'll also relegate Maida to NPC status.
