In addition to the Monsters of Myth and Malevolent & Benign that Falc mentioned, now there’s also these OSRIC monster books: Malevolent & Benign II, also by Expeditious Retreat Press Dwellers in Dark Places, by Matthew Hargenrader Both of these are available through DTRPG.com

I can confirm that the Heroic Legendarium is fantastic. Every old-school D&D fan should get a copy. Thanks for pointing to the Book of Lost Lore! I don't know how I missed that one. You’re welcome, Thom. That book had a different title early on, before Joe released the core game. It was initially released as a bridging book, to bridge between TSR’s AD&D first edition and Joe’s AD&D. The old title was A Curious Volume of Forgotten Lore. I think Joe said the content was mostly the same, but that the newer version had a little more material added.

Hmmm tacojohn4547 is an excellent reference. Let’s call him over!
Thanks rredmond!
It was 'grodog' that sent me actually although I am chatting with Jon separately via email, so he would know my real name (ron sparks). I am planning to do some youtube reviews for the osric products. Allan sent me here as the editor for Fight On! is a long time user/lurker on the forum. I am looking to get the print versions from Lulu however you cannot get Issue 2 in print (although you could via the first compendium which has issues 1 - 4) - albeit i prefer the individual versions. I know there is a kickstarter coming up, so depending on time frames and/or how complicated it is to get Lulu to print Issue 2 so thought I would check in here via the relevant Fight On! folder here.
I am away for the next few days (birthday) so may not reply until I am back.
Cheers, SparkyI can vouch for Ron as a stand up guy and a fairly recent Black Blade customer. Welcome to the community, Ron!

Rob Kuntz wrote an article that appeared in an early issue of Dragon magazine, dealing with magical properties of gems. I don’t recall the issue #, but it was a decent supplement to what Gary included in the DMG.

Why hasn't he made this available? there was so much work put into it. He (Stefan) had (or has) plans to eventually release it. We looked at publishing it with/for him, but we got sidetracked and he decided to keep it ‘in house’. He’s also been doing a lot freelance work for Goodman Games, so he’s kind of gotten sidetracked too.

I know that some Arduin campaigns were supposed to go up to level 50 (or higher) and I've often thought it would be fun to extrapolate the OD&D class tables up to level 50 or 100 or something absurd, just to see what they would look like. I'm not sure what would be the purpose of such an activity, as I doubt I would ever make use of it. Doesn't stop me from thinking about it. I was looking at the Warlock XP tables (again), this past weekend. The current iteration of the Warlock rules go up to and include level 30.

Presumably, if you had pdf editing software, you could edit the pdf yourself and have them print that out. Yep, this works well. I have an app called Nuance or PDF Nuance. As long as the subject pdfs aren’t completely locked down to prevent page extraction and insertion, it’s just a matter of a few mouse clicks to make custom pdfs.

I had these Star Wars REUP hardbacks printed via Lulu. They’re full-color, so they _were_ kind of expensive. But I bought them during a good discount period, so the sting wasn’t as bad as it could have been. The SW REUP rule book has a custom cover, whereas for The Old Republic sourcebook, I used the cover from the pdf. photos.app.goo.gl/u5yF39Rtic1Emsjb7

Yeah, I don't want to jeopardise my acct with Lulu by trying to make a print-up of any D&D stuff, or any other RPG for that matter for fear that they will torpedo my acct permanently. Does that actually happen? Not trying to cast doubt, I've never even tried print anything on Lulu but was just wondering if you did try and print a PDF you bought and had a private thing would they actually suspend your account over it? -Mike I know it used to happen, and I think it happened a lot more often than it seems to happen now. I was very leery of custom print pdfs on Lulu, for quite a while, and avoided doing so until a few years ago. And I actually had a false flag that triggered a lockdown on one of my Lulu accounts. But I was able to demonstrate that the pdf in question was legit, that the content was available freely (it was an RPG community-produced zine, that was free), that the authors and artists had already authorized the use thereof, and that there was no copyright infringement. So the account lock was lifted and my account restored. I think their degree of scrutiny has lightened up in recent years. That’s my impression anyway. Since that incident, I’ve been far more willing to do custom printing via Lulu, including TSR pdfs and things like the OD&D SVE. Also, I buy a lot of POD books on Lulu.... a lot. I don’t know it that has any bearing on whether they monitor the new projects created or monitor the purchases. But if they’re at all watching the quantities ordered, they’ll see a pattern of significant volumes ordered on my account.

Back on topic, these look great, Piper! What are the page dimensions for your reference books? They look square-ish, kind of like the AS&SH boxed set books that were wire-bound. I got out a tape measure to double-check and the pages are 8.5 x 11 inches but I agree they look a bit squarish. Perhaps its an illusion cause by the black box surrounding the cover illo coupled with the wire coil throwing off the viewer's perception? Great! Yeah, must be some sort of optical illusion that’s giving that appearance.

Image 2 of 4: my table copies of Volumes 1-3 (left) and Volumes 4-6 (right). I didn't bother designing custom covers since these are intended for reference (and abuse) not show. Interesting, I paid about 90€ about 2 years back when I had them print WEG SW REUP as a hardcover in full colour. It had been one of my early teen years RPG drugs, so I just had to get... I did this as well. I’ll post a few pics this weekend.

I still have my original softcover of the 1st, and hardback of 2nd, as well as a hardcover 4th. Never got the Black Blade softcover as I was waiting for them to make a hardcover available and that never happened. I have the pdf though. Yeah, we didn’t have the S&W: Core Rules publishing license very long. 12-15 months was the extent of it before the license moved to Frog God. (I’m one of the 2 principals in Black Blade, along with Allan “Grodog” Grohe.) But with Lulu and a little layout voodoo, it is possible to make these custom editions, such as the 1st and 3rd print hardbacks. I may have to tweak the 3rd print cover to add the Black Blade Publishing logo....and make a 3rd print Black Blade hardback. It’s my fave version of Core. If I knew how (I always bumble and screw it up), I’d add a page to the pdf with 4th printing thief and get a Lulu hardback of that. If you’re really interested in doing this, I could help you get the files all updated and set up on Lulu, so you could order it yourself. Same goes for printing a 3rd print hardback. If you’re interested, I could help you get it set up. It’s my fave version of Core. If I knew how (I always bumble and screw it up), I’d add a page to the pdf with 4th printing thief and get a Lulu hardback of that. I’m working on something similar, tho mine is for the various S&W:WB versions of the game. One of the Knockspell issues had 3 or 4 thief variants. I’m pulling those articles into a separate file, cleaning up the layout, formatting it as an 8.5 x 5.5 booklet, and will have a White Box supplement with several thief variants. I’ve even put together a draft cover. But the booklet is a work in progress.

While I was working up the ‘missing’ Swords & Wizardry: Core Rules printings from my stash, I also filled out my run of Swords and Wizardry: White Box printings. (Left to right) Original D&D Single Volume Edition hardback with custom Frazetta cover, reprint of the S&W: White Box first printing hardback, reproduction S&W: White Box 2nd printing hardback, reproduction S&W: White Box 3rd printing hardback, reproduction S&W: White Box 3rd printing hardback with custom Roslof cover, custom reproduction S&W: White Box 3rd printing softcover*, printed for ScoutCon 2020, and S&W White Box 4th printing hardback. Missing from the pic are the S&W: White Box boxed sets and the White Box: FMAG printings. * We’re a sponsor for a council-level event called ScoutCon, which joins Scouting and table top gaming for a fun weekend of camping and gaming each November. This year, we included a full print copy of the S&W:WB 3rd printing softcovers in every attendee and volunteer swag bag. photos.app.goo.gl/vsPzCjuhkZi5penaA

I had a little free time in October, so I dug out the print copies I had of the S&W Core Rules. Turned out that I only had a couple of printings (a 2nd printing hardback and a 3rd printing soft cover that we did under Black Blade). So I played around with the archived pdfs and filled out my Core Rules copies using Lulu to print the others. (left to right) 1st print hardback, 2nd print hardback, 3rd print Black Blade Publishing soft cover, 3rd print hardback, 4th print hardback: photos.app.goo.gl/9hA2pmtVKzWLAkXWA

Oh, well. So, yeah...this isn’t everything. Heheh So that would be....16 copies/editions/iterations of WB I have. .....wow. lol THAT is inspirational, man!!

Love to see this bumped yet again. All these years later and WB is still my go-to. Straight out of the book or modded to hell. These days I generally use WB as the base and then add what I want from GH,EW,BM,and some Third party materials I have a BHP color softcover with the dragon on it. I really want a hardcopy of the Mullen cover but in original or second printing text, not whatever the last print version Finch did. I’m working a crap load of hours at my day job, thru Oct 15. But after that settles down, I’m going to be working on some ‘retooled’ print copies of WB, because I can and since the pdfs are available.

I replied 'yes' way back when this thread was created, and it's still a 'yes'. Here is my WB collection, including the first edition, the french language edition, the box set and the FMAGs (they are so cheap why not get all the cover art?). I'm jealous. I think your collection is better than my own. I have the Mullen cover, the dragon cover hardback, a couple of the BH boxed sets, and a copy or two of the WB:FMAG. Looks like you have some others, and of course you mentioned a French language version which I don't have since I don't speak or read French... I have a “few copies” of S&W:WB myself, but this photo is giving me a bad case of shelf envy!!!

IIRC the overlarge format is required to reprint the JGJ issues at full size, since those were newsprint-sized sheets. Allan. Grodog is spot on here. The original JG Journals were printed on newsprint that folder to 11”x17”. Goodman Games has opted reproduce those at full size in these collector archive tomes . Given their size, table use isn’t really what’s intended. Goodman is trying to preserve a little of the hobby before the original source items become unrecoverable.

And those plastic bags are worth their weight in gold in my home state of NY. Well, if you didn't pay for "express" shipping, maybe there is time to contact Jon and switch over. You'd get a nice supply of bags that way and at a decent cost. QFT!! Actually, since we here in Kansas seem to have an unlimited supply of those bags, I use them on most orders to protect the product. So we’re recycling those darned bags, in our own way!!
