Does this other couple have any clue to your devious plans - or are they completely unsuspecting? One minute they are playing Clue and Ticket to Ride, the next you have them roll up 1e characters and spring Tomb of Horrors on them Oh they know I'm a huge RPG/gaming nerd, but they would never suspect I'd try to pull them in. I am still leaning towards Dread or something else very rules-light, because otherwise I'd watch their eyes glaze over. Been playing many more games with the wife, still need to schedule another gaming night to bring in more players. Some games, while can be played with 2, definitely aren't as fun and end too quickly. That's why we're looking at more strategic games such as Dominion, Catan, etc. Here's what we've been playing: More Ticket to Ride, and also now the Netherlands expansion board Monopoly Deal Chutes & Ladders Candyland (yeah that's right what's up) Enchanted Forest

We finally hosted a game night with another couple, playing Ticket to Ride and Clue. I want to eventually introduce them all to RPGs, which I was thinking of using Dread for our Halloween party we throw every year. However I have recently learned of Betrayal At House On The Hill, and I think that will make a nice stepping stone!

I'm pretty sure all 5E artwork was created digitally, and I think it does show horribly.
For me 1E was the pinnacle of outstanding artwork, not least of which was Trampier's use of shading and shadows. Recently only DCC has spoken to me in the same manner.

Favorite 2-player boardgames? My wife's birthday is coming up and I'd like to find an easy-to-learn game we could play to get back into boardgames; we have a closet full of them, but they're all 3+ players needed...

3) The PDF of #2 seems to be free on Lulu right now. Issues #1&2 are free in PDF on Lulu. They're what got me hooked into ordering both compilations.

At around 50-60 pages a piece would saddle-stitch work better? Or more ideal, a single-volume hardcover

An outstanding review, I would also look forward to similar looks at other clones/games!

I went through the first two sections (I have a busy schedule coming up, so it may be a while before I can finish). These are really nitpicky, I know. But, that's an attestment to the quality of the work! Thanks for the feedback! I'll make sure these are noted on the BFRPG site. Yes by this release it's actually hard to find actual errors or such, which is certainly an indication of the amount of time and effort that's gone into this thing. Most of the initial feedback was changes or additions to the rules rather than errata, and we had to stay firm on this being a basic solid foundation of rules.

Details are on the 3E BFRPG thread and I'll try to consolidate a changelog this week. The main items are an additional combination class for the Elf, several new monsters (many pulled from the Field Guide which we're also working towards a print release on) and a few additional treasure items. There's also a small sections on traps. Otherwise it's mostly errata and clarifications.

After nearly 2 years of work and waiting we're getting close to finishing the 3rd editions of BFRPG. Lots of refinements and a whole lotta new artwork! Before releasing to print it'd be great to get as many eyes on this thing as possible. It's available on the BFRPG downloads page; feedback can be left here or on the forum thread on the BFRPG website. Thanks!

The artwork is incredible. The writing is so enthusiastic and encouraging, absolutely the best-written fantasy RPG I've come across so far.
I like most of the rules, even the 3E-style saves. The funnel is fun to play at times, otherwise we just roll up lvl-1 PCs. I will say if it wasn't for Purple Sorcerer's site and app, I probably wouldn't run the game at all.
