Once Kent posted something that really pissed me off ... and I started typing up some elaborate rant that probably would have made me look like a big jackass. Then I thought to myself, "Wait, this is the OD&D boards. I should probably just ignore him and move on." If this was DF I would have made fun of you for this but you are right this is the OD&D boards where we let emotional outbursts slide! Bear in mind something important though. By not indulging in your rant you may have missed an opportunity to find out your view was flawed. People who keep silent assume they are are right. Often it's not the case. Anyway, in as far as it is believable I accept your qualification that 'Kent' really stood for 'Everyman' including Finarvyn.

People who keep silent assume they are are right. Respectfully, you are mistaken. Some of us keep silent for other reasons.

People who keep silent assume they are are right. I dunno about that - seems a very broad generalization. I sometimes say nothing because, right or wrong, I'd just rather not tangle with the other person. Usually if I feel like I am right I am more inclined to speak up.

It wasn't intended that way. As for the why of it, I'm quite certain there are as many different reasons as there are posters.

Here's a couple reason:
While it hasn't happened here, I've definably kept from posting about my home campaign just in case my players see the post of ruin things for themselves.
There was also a time were my internet went all funky for a few months and wouldn't let me post while in my apartment. There were quite a few discussions then I wish I could have posted to but couldn't.

I'm sure a few people can relate. Even when BS does make its way to these boards, we can do our part by not feeding into it. As a member here I feel like that's sort of my responsibility - to engage in the good discussions and give positive feedback, and just stay away from the negative stuff. Let that stuff die of starvation or make its way to some other board where people will happily feed into it. Yes...this.
