This is where I and others post requests for specific pieces of art.
If an artist wants to take on a work, please post saying so to minimize duplication of effort.
I think we should go for a front AND back cover this time. I'm happy with B&W line art for one more issue at least, though it's very easy to do color covers on lulu's end, so if someone has some magnificent full-color art they want to submit, we can take that.
- No art requests from me just yet -

Hi ant, kroh!
More art is always a plus. Thanks for your interest!
If you have pics you'd like to submit already, or samples of your work, just post them or links here, or send them to iggyumlaut@gmail.com .
Otherwise, I guess the thing to do is to hang out here waiting for art requests and call dibs when they show up. There will be more of these as May passes and submissions come in.
I will say that sometimes I think that a particular artist's style is best for a particular pic so I send the request directly to that artist rather than to the general list, so some idea of what your pics look like would be useful, but actually not required. I'll let anyone take a shot!
Anyway, thanks again and welcome!

If anyone has a re-occurring article they are thinking of starting, I'd suggest getting one of our volunteer artists to make you up a title graphic.

Hello, this is my first post here. After seeing this zine mentioned at gaming blogs, I became interested in helping provide content. Particularly, I'd like to submit artwork. I have a website dedicated to a MMORPG comic now, and a small side gallery for more traditional gaming art. In this subsection, entitled The Ghost Tower of Dustiness, you can see my RPG art: www.crithitcomics.com/ghostmain.htmI would have time to donate small B&W illustrations.

Nice art! But not very sure if it suits Fight On! IMHO.

Zulg, did you look at the old school stuff? It's awesome!
Labsenpai, thanks! Are those illustrations on your site available, or already taken? If you have other things to submit, particularly in the old school style, send them on to iggyumlaut@gmail.com .
Also, if you're just looking for odd things to contribute, check back in in the art request thread (ie this one) in a couple weeks. I'll put pic requests there on a regular basis once I have more articles and ideas to work with.
Thank you so much! Love the work!

There is mostly "comic & animation" style work on my site, since that was the trend in the early 90's when I was in art school.
I'm actually seeking projects that will allow me to try my hand at "classically pulp" game art. I will monitor this thread for requests, as advised. (PS the uploaded images I'd rather not put forth for publication)

OK, here are a couple:
1) If anyone has already drawn a wild battle scene, with several combatants doing crazy things, we could use that. Not sure if this is worth doing as a new pic but if anyone already has something like that or is working on it, send it along.
2) A picture of someone's shield getting smashed in combat would also be cool, especially if the dude(tte) with the smashed shield was perceptibly still in the fight. Fulfilled, great job, thanks!

Won't the page layout dictate certain dimensions for art? I generally try to scale in "quarter page" parcels, but I don't know what format is preferred.

Hi Labsenpai -
The miracle of computer technology makes it basically effortless to resize things. So, exact dimensions aren't so important. Some artists like to draw things extra big so the details look cleaner, that's cool, but big or small I can fit them to the right size when I paste them into the document.

May I make a request (subject to editorial approval, of course)? I could use a jar full of bloodshot eyes for an article I just submitted.

James, are there any special art requests you'd like for your wilderness adventure? Other people with stuff they're looking for?
This thread should start really heating up next week. Requests 1 and 5 are still active at this time.

In general, we're going to need lots of wilderness-themed fantasy art for this one, since there are two big wilderness articles/adventures. So, let your creative juices flow - more specific requests on this when we start getting those articles formatted.

#6 - this one is fairly urgent - I need either atavistic, terrible bird-men or else a traditional 'vulture demon' type dude. Please help!

OK, I gotta say, I REALLY love that second drawing of the bird-headed men.
Kesher, what medium is that, India Ink?
Nice work!

Thanks, Dave!
It's actually some really old sumi ink I had sitting around. It's been 10 or 12 years since I actually inked a drawing, so I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but I'm pretty happy with the results. I used a thin metal nib pen for most of it, and a cheap brush for the crow head and the background.
I don't think I'll be able to go back to plain ol' pencil...

Pencil is great, charcoal is fun once you get the hang of it (but needs to be sprayed in my experience or risk smudging it up), and ink is top notch if you have a dont mind a few blotches here and there (which often add to the tone of the work anyway). A little secret I learned years back when I actually used to draw-a plain ol' ball point can be your best friend, and is so easy to work with (although purists poo-poo such things). Anyway, that's top notch work there Kesher!
