Thanks, melan! And Dave, yeah, it's funny that you mention ballpoint; I did a test run of one of the birdmen with a ballpoint (which I love to use when the ink's the right viscosity), but dangit, it just didn't look "atavistic" enough...

My ballpoints all blob. Must be just me buying cheapo ballpoints. But a nice felt tip? That rocks! I also have a couple of brush pens, but I'm not very good with a brush yet. Need more practice.
(edit) Dang! Kesher, old boy, I coulda sworn I had already replied to tell you how cool I think your work is. Those bird-dudes are just evil! I love it!

Thanks, coffee! Felt tips are great, and when I use ballpoint, I use these: www.uniball-na.com/main.taf?p=2,3,4 Smoother than God, NO blobbing, and not very expensive. I use the 1.0 tip; I've never actually seen the .7 in a store... I like brush pens, too. I have a black one (I forget the brand-- I bought it at the Blick Art Supplies over by Southdale) that I would've used on this drawing, but I lent it to someone and haven't gotten it back. Maybe a good thing, though, 'cause I found I really liked using the brush in the ol' ink pot...

I like using the brush pen because of the portability. I can practice with a brush anywhere I want to.
But I do have regular 'dip' brushes, that I'd like to someday use for my inking purposes. Y'know, when I've got that whole 'control' thing down.

When I don't use ink and nibbed pens, my markers of choice are the PIGMA brand (assorted liners and the brush tip). The Faber-Castell PITT and COPIC markers are nice too, but more expensive.

That was it! The Faber-Castell PITT!
That's a great brush pen.

OK, more art requests coming through:
- Stuff for "Barbarian Magic Items": cloth of the wind-horse, drums of thunder, chariot of cataclysm. If you want a copy of the article to inspire you email me for a copy, or just go off the names.

We could really use a pic of a barbarian chariot for the above, anything barbarian-like that connects with any of those really. Someone help!

Cal, as discussed, I'll take on the barbarian chariot.

Final of the chariot has been sent, cal. A number of changes have been made to better suit the excellent article.
