(aloud = everyone in sight; it's the best way I can think of to say it. Honestly, he's not used to chatting with that many people. ) Shade's telepathy has reached heroic proportions. He can now keep track of several strands of conversation at once, and "bridge" the thoughts of his allies, to the limits of line-of-sight. It's like a chat room in his head! Having never experienced any other reality, the newborn finds this completely normal.

From time to time, a few stray zombie walkers lurch out of the mist (late to the jamboree) and are easily dispatched by your sentries (granting no XP). Everyone is jumpy and on edge; it feels as though the Weird Forces of the universe grow stronger as you approach the Giant Head.
[orange]Gunnery[/orange] and his disciplined troops scout the hex, and this is what they report: At the western tip of the peninsula is a recently-constructed, sturdy pier (wide enough for the dinos). The far end cannot be seen due to the dense fog! If your map is accurate then the pier leads toward the small island and in the direction of your quest.

Thank you all, though I do have some questions. Have you heard of a stone shaped like a face? I seek it, though I know little of where it is or why other than I was compelled to do so.
I also seek someone who may know how to read runes of the old gods **Our mission is to collect just such a head. You are welcome to join us, as long as you can pull your weight. We have nobody in this expedition who can read the runes of the old gods, though our benefactor is a university and there may be someone there who can help you.** Shade replies such that all around them can hear. **Everyone prepare your men and beasts. We break camp in a half hour.**

Loyal Beast of the Unknown Master smiles and rips his enormous sword from the ground.
Yes, I will come with you and with this sword I think i'll manage to get by. I see that you all have also acquired dinosaurs so you shouldn't have trouble keeping up with me and Big Al over there.
He whistles and Big Al the Allosaurus comes running to Loyal Beast's side.
Also these wraiths that swirl around me are friendly to my command so you needn't concern yourself with them.

"What?! break camp? But...but...we just got here!" Reggie sputters. "We haven't had time for a proper tea. And I was going to have my man Nigel draw up a bath." As he sees the others around him get to work breaking camp his shoulders slump. "Oh bother."
"If we're going to leave now I might as well have a look at that sword of yours. I am a professor of antiquities you know. Of some renown too. Not that anyone here would have heard of me. No sir. Spent a lifetime building up a proper career. Ancient ruins, musty tomes, even mustier mummies. And for what? For naught I tell you. Naught!"
"NIGEL!" He yells with some agitation. "Get the men together. It seems we are leaving after just getting here. No rest for the weary and all that. And have them check the fallen for anything of use. Dismissed!"
Turning back to the undead ...man(?). "Please sir. Your sword? May I look at your sword?"
OOC: Grand will have a look at the runes on the sword in case there's been some cross pollination between the two worlds. And the Punjabis will search among the fallen for anything of value and better weapons.

A traumatized Buck Quarry pleads with Apothecaria: "Got anything to help me forget last night?" Perhaps a bit of the grain? she replies, patting a stoppered flask marked "XXX" hanging from her girdle. Or, more than a bit?

Grand attempts a Lore check (chance-in-6 odds equal to his Sorcerer level +1 for his stupefying intelligence) and rolls 2... success! (low is good for chance-in-6 rolls) He has seen similar runes in certain rare heiroglyphics associated with the cult of Egyptian god Set, though these are so twisted and primitive that the connection must remain a hypothesis for now. www.native-science.net/God.Attributes.htmThe Punjabis fare well and are able to equip themselves with long pikes. For their master they obtain a treasure that brings a smile of recognition: the craftsmanship is odd, but the weight of the pistol in his hand is familiar from many a gentlemanly hunting expedition! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howdah_pistol

Perhaps a bit of the grain? she replies, patting a stoppered flask marked "XXX" hanging from her girdle. Or, more than a bit? Apothecaria finds Buck Quarry to be a wise and genteel drinking companion despite his rugged appearance. His mental breakdown is averted for at least another 24 hours. She administers healing to the wounded (except for the previously administered to unconscious cannibal, who is safe from the disease but out of commission for the day). 4-in-6 chances for each: 5 + 5 + 4 + 5. Alas, Apothecaria is new to treating zombie bites and can only help 1 of Fated's ulfire men (who is back to full strength); the other ulfire and the two cannibals will be at half-strength for the day. I will make a save vs. poison for each of them after 24 hours to determine if they are infected. As part of their daily routine, Apothecaria's helpers forage around the campsite and replenish the supply of healing herbs.

The Loyal Beast is a formidible foe indeed; two-handed swords have almost ungodly to-hit probabilities on the man-to-man table! Speaking of which, some of you might not have access to Chainmail, so here's a compilation of the most important combat tables (ignore page 6): www.grey-elf.com/AoC-DM-Screen.pdfThe three wraiths stay close to their Master in the daytime and shrink down to almost nothing, sometimes seeming to overlap and share the same space. On sunny days they take shelter in his shadow whenever possible. These "wraithlings" have the fighting capability of ordinary men-at-arms, not the much better stats for Wraiths in Chainmail, which would be comparable to a Ringwraith from LotR. (But maybe you could level them up that high someday!)

Ladies and Gentlemen
The pier is wide enough for the brontosaurs to cross single-file. Due to the extreme fog, those at the back of the dinosaur train will not be able to see and hear those in front! (and vice versa, thus there will be no line-of-sight for Shade's "chat room" telepathy.) And so I will need from you a marching order for the Carcosa Dinosaur Convoy. Tell me who is brave enough to go first, and I will tell you what you see!

What's that? say the newcomers. I've never seen a dinosaur convoy before!
Oh yes. Welcome to Carcosa.
The anchor of the group is a mated pair of brontosauruses, Big Mama and Papa. The male is [currently unless a PC takes over] commanded by [orange]A Gunnery Veiled[/orange] at the trigger of a massive radio beam turret, and the female by Minion of the Unholy Fragnog the bone man sorcerer. She carries a massive shield generator with 5" radius similar to that deployed by the Gungan army in Phantom Menace. [also up for grabs if a player wants]
Will the players please queue up the remaining dinos and footmen for action!

Unless requested otherwise Loyal Beast Of the Unknown Master will take the lead.
I am already dead, it is best if the first thing an enemy could focus on to be me.

Shade and the Deep One Minion were thinking about taking a swim along side the pier and leaving Sgt. Cannibal to ride Andre the Gigantosaurus behind Loyal Beast and Big Al and in front of Big Mama and Papa.
Shade wills his standard bone spear to emerge from his forearm, in case it is needed.

Breath of New Moon suggests tying the dinos together by lengths of rope, so we are less likely to get split up in the fog.
Princess, with 2 of Breath's henchwomen (Dream Stalker & Serpent's Scion) aboard, will stay near the middle of the group, just behind Big Mama.
Little Brother, with Breath and her other two henchwomen (Blasphemous Blade & Devil Maw) will take up rear-guard position.
So, Marching Order would be:
FRONT Big Al Andre Big Daddy Big Mama Princess Snarf (is Snarf still with us?) Grand's Raptor (unnamed?) Little Brother BACK
Did I miss anyone?

Unless requested otherwise Loyal Beast Of the Unknown Master will take the lead. I am already dead, it is best if the first thing an enemy could focus on to be me.While the rest of the party is falling into formation, the Loyal Beast advances to the edge of the dunes and stops at 6" distance from the base of the pier, the limit of visibility in this awful fog. The lack of direct sunlight means the three wraithlings are more bold than usual, flitting eagerly about Al's legs. The pier is sturdily constructed from well-milled lumber and there is nothing to indicate it is not of human construction. From the lack of weathering on the timbers (and being an expert on decay himself) Beast estimates the construction is no more than 1 year old. (Explaining why it is not on the expedition map you earlier consulted.) It stretches indefinitely out to see, into the fog. The Loyal Beast pauses and studies the situation. The pier appears to be unguarded and unbarricaded. There is no sound save for the gentle lapping of waves on the beach and around the timbers of the pier.

(not sure how I feel about multiple healing attempts on the same wound, thoughts?) ooc: maybe with a successful save versus magic and one additoinal turn to be able to reattempt? (edit for spelling) And additionally a risk of scarring/complications for the patient? (the concept of risk/reward) or maybe... Healers can work together, and their skills synergize. The healer with the best skill rolls for the group, with a +1 to the roll for each trained assistant (maximum bonus equal to the lead healer's level). To balance this improved healing, I would introduce more serious diseases/poisons into the campaign with -1 or more penalty to the healing check.

Apothecaria asks to travel in the middle of the group. There is plenty of room on the brontosaurus mothership for Apothecaria and her helpers, if she wishes to stay out of harms way?

Loyal Beast agrees on tying the dino's together and helps to fulfill that plan if all are in agreement. He then pauses and leans back to the rest of the party passing on through the dino chain what he sees. This construction looks new, only a year old at best. I don't see any danger so keep moving with me slowly but surely.
Loyal Beast then pushes Big Al slowly on down the endless pier. Realizing his eyes are useless in this fog he closes his eyes and focuses on what he can hear.

Shade and the Deep One Minion slip into the water as the first dinosaur starts onto the pier. They will swim ahead to see if there is anything dangerous hidden by the fog that the others are unable to see.

At the rear of the company Little Brother has just stepped foot onto the pier when Loyal Beast at the front spies something in the distance: the foot of a rocky island of pure matte white splashed with vivid red! The island is guarded by a gatehouse and drawbridge in the "up" position. It is 6" range (the limit of vision) to the gate.
Shade feels the water throb as something large approaches. ** I have a bad feeling about this, Master ** thinks the Deep One.
