The Shadow of the Evermore recovers his obsidian-tipped spear and continues down the hallway slowly, keeping an eye on the ceiling and walls for any signs of an ambush. The Shadow recovers the spear and moves into the side passage. A short distance ahead is the bottomless drainage pit from whence the Plant-Beast surfaced. The footing is wet and treacherous, but by moving with caution, you are able to easily leap over to the other side, where the passage is dry stone. Here is the metal grate that the beast cast aside. The narrow passage curves slightly up ahead, and you think you see a distant flicker of torch-light ahead...

Thaimos kneels next to the shattered body of Servitor, makes the Elder Sign and gives him an impromptu sendoff to the afterlife.
He stands outside the mouth of the tunnel, and squints, trying to make out details in the darkness. He notices the torchlight, and wonders if that's where they've taken Breath of New Moon.
[OOC: If my companions go in, I will follow them]

Shadow leads the diminished party in single-file down the narrow hall. Thug Slave aimlessly follows behind. Everybody steps carefully over the drainage shaft to the dry floor beyond.
Around the bend, the passage widens into a roughly 50' chamber that appears to be a natural cavern enlarged by pick-work. It is lit by several smoky torches hanging from wall sconces.
The floor is covered by perhaps 20 refuse piles (bones, dirt, filthy rags, and other debris) with indented centers, as though a pack of man-sized carnivorous animals had bedded down. A well-worn path leads between these vacant nests, from your current location to a four-foot diameter hole in the floor (with more torchlight shining up from below) to a closed wooden door at the opposite wall.

The Shadow whispers, "Looks like we're in the sleeping chambers of those rabid white man-beasts. Be on your guard."
He looks up at the ceiling to make sure there is no danger from above and then slowly advances into the room, slowly scanning left and right for signs of danger, and occasionally prodding the piles of bones for anything that might be of interest. He isn't as interested in coins so much as gems, jewels, and weapons that look to be unusually clean and new-looking, despite being down in a cave.

A quick examination of the nests reveals a curious lack of valuables: Pants with nothing in the pockets, empty purses stuffed with rags and used as pillows, fingers with no rings, a pierced ear with no earring...
As you approach the center of the room, you hear something through the circular opening in the floor. Something is moving about quietly below, making faint rustling noises.

The Shadow first listens at the door to see if he hears anything. The Shadow listens at the stout wooden door on the opposite wall and hears the faint but unmistakable sound of a Man screaming in agony.

The Shadow whispers, "I hear screaming. Do we go through the door here or do we go down into the hole?"
He edges closer to the hole in the middle of the room to see if he can spot a means of climbing down (and back up).

OOC: The screaming is coming from behind the door.
IC: The Shadow nods once before shifting his flail to his left hand and opening the door.
