Hello to one and all! My name is Erik Johansson and i am the author of the booklet "Original Edition Campaign" that was published a couple of years ago (2021). I recently noticed that there was a thread here on odd74 were some of you expressed interest in talking to me about the booklet. If there is still interest i would be happy to answer any questions or clarify anything that was unclear. Hoping for some interesting rules questions or discussions. Two things that i would like to explain and apologize for.
- Concerning the small gutter margins : The booklet was originally written and designed to be saddle stitched (stapled) just like the original LBBs. All of the test prints i sent out for review were saddle stitched. It was not until after publishing that the company i used informed me that saddle stitched booklets was only available withing the EU..
The booklet is available within EU, saddle stitched as originally intended. For all American customers it is only available as perfect bound with smaller "gutter margins", sorry. - Concerning cost : I set the price as low as i could and within the EU it costs about $5. The international release mainly through amazon has an added cost that i don't control bringing the total US price to ~$8.50. Sorry again.

Question: How and why is it you are not or may not be able to make it available, saddle-stitched via Lulu? Surely you may.

Is a PDF available? Is the Amazon cover actually textured or is it a print of texture?

Is a PDF available? Is the Amazon cover actually textured or is it a print of texture? There is no PDF available. I made the booklet because i wanted people to have my booklet in their boxes or on their shelves. I make no money on the print copies and i feel that if a PDF was available there would be no/less books on shelves. I looove paging through a physical book. Sorry to say that the cover is not actually textured. If that was possible i would have gone for that 100%. The printed texturing is actually a scan of the back of one of my LBBs.

Saddle stitch is still available on LULU. I think I just has a maximum page count of 48. I just got in my own copies of OD&D Books 1-3 that are saddle stitch.

Yes, the option is available on both Lulu and bod (which i used). It's just discontinued for "global distribution". You can still order your own booklet with saddle stitch no problem. I can publish a saddle stitched book on Lulu (or bod) but international orders will be "perfect bound". This was my disappointment. My booklet is exactly 48 pages to conform to the requirements for "saddle stitch" and was published as a saddle stitched book. When i checked amazon.com i saw that it was perfect bound so i got angry and asked bod. They informed me of the same thing posted by Lulu (link above). "Retailers (Hachette, Ingram, and Amazon)"..."will no longer accept Saddle Stitch Bound products." As far as i know i can't publish a book on the US Lulu site to make saddle stitch available in the US. I can only publish on their EU site. I have my booklet published using Bod which is basically the exact same thing as Lulu. As far as i know, i am out of luck. I have a couple of review copies left. I would be happy to send you one if you absolutely want the "saddle stitch" version. You would have to pay shipping but if i remember correctly that wasn't a huge amount.

Hi Erik! I stumbled upon your booklet completely at random on Amazon and decided to buy it on a whim. I just want to say thank you for making it publicly available for purchase, as random OD&D esoterica like this are always wonderful to find and compare to, say, the booklets I have made with house rules for my own campaigns.
I guess a main question I'd have is - do you have any kind of online presence? A blog, a website, somewhere where you post about your game?

It's always fun to read others house rules and adapt them for ones own campaign.
Sorry to say, i don't have any online presence apart from this. I have some private accounts on social media but those are not connected to my role as a long time DM in any way. If i ever create some form of online presence i will make sure to announce it here. As of now this is unlikely seeing as most of my time goes into either taking care of my 4 kids or running my campaign(s). Now if this would have been an option back in the 90s or early 00s that would have been different.
