So my son and his fiance decided to buy themselves and me a trip to GaryCon this spring. (Technically it's a Christmas present, but they decided to check with me in advance to see what days worked.) They think they can get a hotel room not in the actual convention venue but not too far away, and they said that the tickets they can buy at this time look like Sat-Sun weekend passes. I'm pretty sure that the list of games doesn't come out until early February and they told me that the tickets of the level they were going to buy are such that we can't sign up for games until early March, so I'm not sure which on-the-books games will be left. I'm wondering who will be attending and what games might be out there for us, on or off the books. thegreyelf , they specifically asked if there would be Night Shift somewhere.

I am not hosting any official Night Shift events there, but I do know of several GMs that are planning to run it. My own attendence is intended, but up in the air as we are in the process of dealing with my mother-in-law's estate and her memorial service will likely be around that time (early Spring). So I'm not sure if I will just be there with TLG or as Elf Lair Games this year. It all depends on how things play out.

I'm registered, have a hotel room and plane ticket, and am planning on running two D&D games: 1. The Forgotten Smugglers' Cave (Lvl 3?) - likely Friday morning 9-1. 2. Expedition to Skull Stack Crater (Lvl 3) - likely Saturday evening 8-12. The first one is new, and the second one I ran last year, with paleologos, muddy and GRWelsh from these boards all playing in it. See the event description here, and my con write-up here. The pregens for the second one are 3rd level. I haven't decided on the levels for pregens for the first one, but may use 3rd level as well. Each is a Holmes Basic + OD&D (for higher levels) game. Times are tentative because I haven't submitted them yet, because I'm waiting on scheduling of a third game that I'm going to help referee (a wargame). I will put in for 6 or 8 seats for each game.

I'm registered and have submitted a BECMI scenario (sorry, guys). It's the "Quest for the Heartstone" dungeon. I took a look at it, recently, and thought it would be interesting to run.
I contacted Paul about running a miniatures scenario, but since I don't have the miniatures, he offered to try and work something out. I'm planning on using the Battlesystem rules. Will keep folks here posted!

That large-scale version of the Knights of Camelot boardgame is a thing of beauty.

I'll be running a couple sessions of "A Tale of Two Temples", yet again, with Blueholme. I thought about running a straight up low level dungeon crawl as well, but there are so few old school dungeon crawls that I am reluctant to run more sessions bc they often conflict with the few sessions I am most interested in.
EDIT: I think my games are in the afternoon (Thursday and Friday maybe?) because I've noticed a lot of the really old school guys run their games in the morning.

I've got two events proposed - waiting to see if they'll get scheduled: - Rescue of Hommlet—A Chainmail/OD&D Game: using my Moathouse model I built finished in 2020, right before the caca hit the whirly-whirly. Finally hoping I get to play this thing. - Chaos Wars in the DUNGEON!: Playing old school Ral Partha Chaos Wars - armies in dungeons, using dungeon tiles I created.
I wanted to play more than I ran, so that's why only two.
If anyone wanted, I would do a one-shot dungeon crawl, maybe using my Dungeon23 or something from Etinerra, using OD&D/AD&D rules.

I submitted an OD&D event but it hasn’t been approved as of yet. My 3 other non-OD&D games have been approved.

I am - I've submitted my Chainmail/OD&D "Rescue of Hommlet" game for Saturday 10am. Waiting for it to get scheduled.
I'm also running Ral Partha's Chaos Wars on Sunday 10am - taking two armies into a dungeon using 12x12 dungeon tiles.
When is your game? I'd like to play as much as I can that weekend!

My two sons and I will be attending GaryCon but bought passes late so we get to sign up late. I hope one or both of these OD&D games still have openings when we get to sign up.

Depending on schedules, I'm willing to set it up and run "Rescue of Hommlet" for a group of OD&D Forum members, off the books. I'll be there Fri - Sun - willing to run a game Sun after my 10-2 Chaos Wars game.

The two games I am running, described in the other thread, will be listed under the category of Original D&D. Technically, they are Holmes Basic as expanded with OD&D, but I view Holmes Basic as one particular take on OD&D, so they are just OD&D to me.

Just got notice that my events are scheduled! "The Forgotten Smugglers' Cave" is on Friday morning from 9-1; Level 3; 6 seats. tabletop.events/conventions/gary-con-xv/schedule/893"Expedition to Skull Stack Crater" is on Saturday night from 7-11; Level 3-4; 6 seats. tabletop.events/conventions/gary-con-xv/schedule/892I picked "OD&D" as the category for each - which I've always selected before for my Gary Con games - but whoever made the listing changed them to "D&D Basic". Which is also fine. I'm using the same pre-gens for each so I think I will advance any surviving characters from the first adventure for the second one.

Zenopus do you mind if I ask why? Do you think you'll attract different/more players?

Do you think you'll attract different/more players? I can't 100% speak for Zenopus on this, but I assume it comes down to the history of the development of Holmes Basic. AD&D wasn't "a thing" when Holmes created his rules, so he created rules as a cleanup of OD&D with a few new ideas and details dropped in to fill in some perceived gaps. The tie-in to AD&D was done after the fact and was somewhat artificial. Holmes Basic was never intended to be an introduction to AD&D, but was supposed to be an introduction to OD&D for players without the wargame background. Zenopus is the resident expert on Holmes, so he can probably provide more details.
