When will a DVD be available for sale? I hate to sound snarky. But it really comes down to: As Soon as Chris and Griff get off their asses. Whew, the rush to completion was a bear.

Maybe the Kotaku article should be in it's own discussion. Cecilia is taking a lot of heat. Remember that movie: There Will be Blood? Well, there's a new one called: There Will Be Gamer Butt-Hurt. I will refrain from discussing it here, as I want a happy - WE DID IT! discussion on Secrets of Blackmoor. Anyone bothered to watch it, any thoughts about it? Griff ADMIN NOTE: The Kotaku article is now its own thread. Please direct all article posts here

Griff Speaking as somebody who knew/knows those people and gamed/games with them, I think it's a great film because it tells their story in their words, with what amount to footnotes. "this is who we are, this is what we did", kind of thing; I'm big on it. Good telling of the Twin Cities story, in my opinion. Very enjoyable! I'd second the separate thread on the Kotaku article. Speaking as somebody knew and worked for these people, who had a front row seat for the lawsuits, and who got sent down to TSR stockholder meetings as Dave's proxy (for his one share), the article pours a lot of fresh salt into old wounds. Could have just mentioned the film, and left it at that.

I haven't seen it yet, mostly because I don't know enough about streaming services. My daughter does Netflix and Hulu, but those don't appear to be options. I'll probably have to wait for the DVD release. I remember the preview video release a few months back and really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see the real thing!

The first version of the movie for me had a massive sound issue on Vimeo, but the second one is good. I enjoyed the movie. I think it will get some rightful criticism for dealing with too many topics at once, and for perhaps showing less of Arneson himself than the title and the marketing suggest. - But that's not a back breaker; after all, this is supposed to be "part one", is it not? - For part two, what I personally would like to see more actual stories from the campaign, not just snippets or rules-related stuff. But then, again, that is kind of what the second movie is supposed to be about, I assume. In case anyone wonders, that's me in the credits, (even though my name is spelled with "f", not "ph" ), but like Havard, I wasn't directly involved in the movie's production. So, I'm giving you my perspective as part of the audience: I'm happy with the movie, and I think only good things will come from this for the hobby on the long run. When I'm an old man, I will probably show this to my grandkids, when they ask me what all this "Blackmoor stuff" was about. As to the whole "loyalist" debate that might flare up now, well, aren't we past that? - Most of what is said in the movie shouldn't be new information for anyone really acquainted with the hobby, anyway. So, I hope things stay, well, less embarassing for the entire community than these debates have sometimes gone in the past.

I can correct it and upload a replacement file. I will let chris know. Yes, part 2 will be about the actual campaigns. Arneson's Blackmoor John Sniders space campaign Minstf Dungeon Barker's Tekumel It's all Twin Cities material, so I am afraid nothing on Grey hawk. Also most ex TSR people refused our requests for interviews. We can't say anything without interviews. As to who knows what, this is ODD74, the average gamer has no clue about half the stuff in the film. You guys are all hard core gamer wonks

Would love to get it on disc, so I'm being patient for now.
It's funny, I was just wearing my t-shirt on Friday.

It's funny, I was just wearing my t-shirt on Friday. Yeah, I had a similar experience. Was rooting through my stack of t-shirts the other day and found mine and thought, "hey, haven't worn this for a while," and set it on top to wear for my gaming session this Friday. Timing is everything!

My name is in the research credits too. You mean, all without writing a book? The research tends to come before the book, or other media. ;-)
