Hey Jon, am I also in that last batch of international orders? (I also ordered an X-Plorers box set and a game box and am part of your kickstarter. Hah!) I believe so, but if you email me using your name, I will make sure and box all of them up together. john@bravehalfling.com

Hey Andreas. I have at least half a dozen, international orders (including your's) that have never reached their destination that I have created replacement materials for over the weekend that I will ship out again this week (at a higher shipping level). My issue: I have been round-and-round with the USPS on why 1/3 of all my international shipments never leave the country and they won't give me ANY answer. I am no genius, but it sure looks like that the only international shipping that always reaches its destination is the twice-as-expensiveh priority flat rate boxes that one can purchase online. I sold all of the boxed sets at the standard, "international postage" that one has to go into an actual post office to purchase and fill out customs forms. I think this is one way they are trying to discourage folks from actually coming into a post office (no need of a clerk) and using the much higher rates. It is that, or I am on some homeland security watch list again.

Our internet (and our ability to ship things with tracking numbers) was out last week from storm damage. It is back up and we are shipping again and will continue until everyone has their order.
I am also woking on the layout for the Alchemical Synergy (S&W:WhiteBox) conversion booklet right now too.

Hi John, and welcome back! Firstly, a couple of clarifications... (Players Guide p10) * Fighters have multiple attacks per round versus opponents with fewer than 3 HD. * They have this advantage from 2nd level and up (as they have just the 1 HD at 1st level. Right. It was the middle of the night and the cats were trying to get my milk and cookies. This is what I wanted to know! And it makes better sense to my little mind knowing the "why" now. Thanks for that very detailed response.

I am not arguing for or against the mechanic - it is part of Delving Deeper now AND it is growing on me.
I am just a "big-picture-like to know why" kind of guy.

I had trouble sleeping last night, so I gave a close reading to the newest version of Delving Deeper. This is no introductory game written for young children. The language is of the text is appealing, stimulating and keen. I am sure this is explained somewhere in the Men & Magic or the Chainmail sections of this forum, but other folks may come here with the same two questions: Multiple Attacks for Fighters and Monsters 1.) If allowing fighters at 4th level (and monsters over three hit dice) to attack once for every hit dice they have in a round versus opponents with three hit dice or less, why not also let clerics and magic users do the same at 6th and 7th level when they would also both have Hero 1 attack status according to the game emulated? 2.) Is this particular mechanic based upon a mechanic (or an interpretation of a mechanic) in the game emulated - Chainmail? Or is it just a smart compromise that helps make Delving Deeper unique?

Hey since you're here John, i ordered a Mullen box and paid the international postage for it. Is that going to come on it's own or with my Appendix N/DD Box Set order? I have no problem to combine if it will save some postage. EDIT: ha I am Scott Sutherland in NZ BTW! Hey Scott. Your DD & Mullen Box is shipping together. The Appendix N stuff will ship separately.

Thanks, guys. Melissa and I are not back to actively shipping Delving Deeper Boxed sets. Now that we won't have an infant to care for, Melissa is back to being vital part of BHP and especially with shipping. We should see every Delving Deeper Boxed Set arrive at its new home (including all internationals orders) before the end of the month - remaining domestic orders much sooner.
All of the currently shipping boxed sets now include a four-page errata sheet.

So, can I get that tracking number I was promised more than a month ago, please? I'm quite annoyed at this point. Hey Andreas. We don't have to go to the hospital until late this evening. My first shipment to was returned to me due to some of the problems I have been having with the US postal service (but they are supposed to be sorted out). Your new order is ready to ship (along with many others). I have to take it to my local post office and fill out the customs forms there and I will do that asap. Here is picture of your waiting shipment, if that helps. My apologies for the problems with shipping the DD boxed sets. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Hey guys,
I am sorry. I am having problems getting everything shipped anywhere in a timely manner and keeping up on emails.
Some of it is problems with the USPS and the other are personal problems (new day job that requires a great deal of my time and a new baby on the way in July that we have had some complications with but things seem just fine now).
I have tried to catch back up on emails today, but it is not easy to sort through them all.
But unless I have an emergency come up, all remaining DD orders are ready to ship and should ship in the next few days.

I am down to the last 40 orders to ship so they will all soon be shipped very soon. The nearly six hundred folks in my kickstarter emailed me this last week, so I am behind catching up on emails.
Not how I like to do business, but it is why I have shut down my online store.

I think the idea was that we would essentially get three versions of Forging a Hero: 1. Forging a Hero (creating an OD&D character) 2. Perilous Mazes (creating a Holmes character) 3. Alchemical Synergy (creating a S&W:WB character) The advantage of the latter is that you would be able to pick up a S&W module and use it with your DD set without having to cross-reference an actual S&W set to convert anything. That’s just my impression. I’m not sure what the IP owners can and cannot legally say on the matter. Exactly. But as I said, we are re-evaluating what to do. Making DD much more "Chainmail-ish" does provide a much-desired OGL RPG for a select group of folks in the OSR who have been looking forward to one. I think it also makes DD much more unique and in many way a much neater game to run and play. But at the same time, it also moves DD farther away from the mainstream of D&D rpgs which makes the development of or even the need for conversion supplements much more difficult and possibly even unneeded. But, of course, conversion supplements are not (nor should they be) a design factor for Simon and DD. I just need to ponder it a bit more.

Please feel free to ask me any questions or voice any concerns you may have with me. John— Are you licensing or otherwise allowing Simon to use the Mark Allen art i the single-volume edition? (I guess Simon could answer this one, too.) How are you feeling about the second shipment (to include Alchemical Synergy, Perilous Mazes, modules, dice, and a map, IIRC)? I am being as supportive as I can be about DD moving forward under Simon's control, but I cannot comment on the art situation right now. Zach is on top of Perilous Mazes and I will start working with him just as soon as the last DD box ships. The map and dice are on hand. Alchemical Synergy is another story. With all the Chainmail additions to DD in this newest revision (something we had decided to not do when creating DD), I am unsure about the state of Alchemical Synergy at this very moment.

I have done a great deal of thinking about this today and I believe it best if BHP drops the single-volume version of DD so that Simon can move much quicker to realize his plans for the game. The new changes to DD would require a few weeks worth of layout work for me (changes in text AND in my arch nemesis - tables!) and I do not want to make people wait any longer for it. I think folks would much rather look forward to your much higher quality versions of DD in the near future.
Simon, I think you are doing a great job guiding the game and I have no regrets in giving it to you.
I do apologize for not posting here or on the DD Google+ group. I have been monitoring both, but I have just not had the time to do much posting anywhere on the internet since November.
It has never been my intention to slow up DD or to hold up the progress of the game. The boxed sets are all hand made and no matter how I do it, each one requires nearly an hour of physical labor to print, sort, bind, trim, wrap and pack. Looking back, I can see how much better off DD would have been if I would have just made a single-volume version to begin with and then out-sourced the printing. That would have made this process much faster and all of the boxed sets would have shipped by January. You live and you learn. If it helps, I have learned that many resellers now offer BHP's old WhiteBox boxed sets for around $100 now. I hope these much larger, fully-illustrated DD boxed sets become just as valuable to folks too.
I also realize that it appears like I have put DD on the back burner in favor of other things BHP is publishing. But honestly, in 2011-2012, the only things BHP released were X-plorers sold some new gaming boxes. It was during those two terrible years of transition for my family that I created everything BHP has newly published so far in 2013 for DCC RPG and Dagger RPG. For frustration over the appearance of DD being a lower priority for BHP in the last few months, I do apologize.
I would like to include the new changes list in the remaining DD boxed sets. However, they are keyed for Simon's reference edition of DD, so I may need to try and adapt them.
Please feel free to ask me any questions or voice any concerns you may have with me.

I just bought the $1 version, and have a couple more questions: 1. Why isn't there a character sheet in this version? 2. Whenever I print the file, I end up with a large block of white space on the cover, almost like a split between the Dagger heading/title and the illustration underneath it. Anyone else have this problem? The Optional Rules section is great, and dead-on about how kids envision their characters. My oldest son has played a skeleton warrior with a flaming sword as well as a two-headed talking dog. Cool. 1. There is a very simple character sheet one the last page of the free version included in the $1 Dagger download. But Mark Allen is making an "official" Dagger character sheet folks will be able to get for free soon. 2. I will have to check that out. Thanks for the kind words. I have been gaming with my boys for years now and they have taught me a thing or two about gaming with small children.

This is great stuff! Just downloaded and and now I really want to get my 5.5 year-old twins into a dungeon... One question: Was your intent with the Wizard/Elf for them to be able to cast spells over and over? Or is it that at level one, he can cast two spells in a day; at level two, he can cast four spells/day, etc? And at 5th level, he'd have two 1st/two 2nd/ two 3rd/two 4th and two 5th level spells? After writing this, I'm pretty sure that's what you meant, which is cool, since it gives the Wizard character lots of options (which kids like, of course!) I also like how simple it is to re-skin this concept. It'd no problem to make it scifi, superhero, postapoc, etc. Thanks, Kesher! Let us know how the gaming goes. Yes, the wizard/elf can cast two spells of each level they have reached each day. I do have simple, optional d20 spell check roll one can use that will be released in my free "John's House Rules" later this week. That one lets them cast spells over and over because some of them fail, just like the standard attack roll.

Hi John. I'm posting this here as you've mentioned in various places that you get hundreds of emails a week and are finding it difficult to respond. I got my shipping email with the tracking number on 11th Feb. Unfortunately, the tracking number is not recognised on the www.USPS.com site. I've tried various times in the two weeks since then and still no good. Having had problems in the past getting packages from you I'd appreciate your confirming the tracking number you gave me. My name is Gordon Richards. Thanks. I'll check on it, Gordon. It should at least track from my post office til when it left the country.

No, the Appendix N stuff will be send out later in March - I am still waiting for some art for two modules.
It will be a few months before PM is ready. But it will be much faster shipping because I am retaining everyone's address in a label file. I will email everyone for address changes before the second DD shipment with PM goes out.

Just an update, I will be making any corrections Simon has for the before it is released. Mark and I have decided not to make it available until all the boxed sets have shipped. So we are looking at around March 15 for it to be available (which will give me some time to see proofs to arrive first).

Hey John, Does that mean all DD orders, even the 2012s? Also, I wanted to buy one of the Xplorer's boxes. Will you send that out with DD if I buy it now? Or, how best should I do that? Absolutely. I am trying to get EVERY BHP order out this week. It is not problem to bundle a couple of boxed sets together.

Oh yes, wraith has not attack damage listed. It could be 1d6, but since Dagger characters have no attributes and often only one level, attribute drain or level drain does not work like it normally does. It isn't much fun for young children either, so I let it bank and up to the Referee.
Actually, I thought I had removed all of the level or attribute draining undead off of the list.

@vlark: Yes, both the free and dollar versions of Dagger are the new files. However, I know that there have been instances in the past where the files say they are the new ones but every time folks download them they still get the older file. If that happens, you just need to contact DRIVETHRURPG or RPGNOW.com to let them know.
