While filling prescriptions at my store today I realized that drug names make excellent character names.
Alprazolam would be a great wizard. Crestor would be an awesome dwarf or fighter. Plavix is a great cleric name. Zoloft sounds like a thief. And of course there is Cialis...the wood elf.
Anybody else find good character names in unexpected places.

That's great. Someone's got to use Cialis the Wood Elf as an NPC.

Very cool idea. Nice to know that other folks think about gaming when they ought to be working. My sister said that there is a comedic mystery novel "We'll Always Have Parrots" which was set at a scifi convention for a TV show. In the fictional TV show, all of the characters and place names were swiped from a medical dictionary. She figured it out when she recognized the name of an ingredient in poison ivy medicine. www.amazon.com/Well-Always-Parrots-Langslow-Mysteries/dp/0312996756

Often I collect interesting names from the brands of alcohol where I work, for all manner of names or ideas. Some of them make great (and weird) tavern names, among other things. Though, usually if I'm thinking about game stuff, I'm drawing up maps, doodling, or making world lore at the office desk on the slow days.
"The gnome knows", this potion tastes like cat's pee on a berry bush, etc.

I had a Commander Yeldongren NPC whose name came from a 'Yield on Green' sign.

Things I think about when I should be working... I applaud to your high degree of sophistication, good Sir. For me, personally, it's mostly bacon, I have to confess.

While filling prescriptions at my store today I realized that drug names make excellent character names. Anybody else find good character names in unexpected places. I've adventured alongside a Patanol and a Pataday, each based on drug-rep post-it notes the DM had lying around on his table. Also, once I played a Balrog named Sneerglaw, which is simply Walgreens spelled backwards.

One of the greatest warriors I've ever known in D&D was named Advil.
