Well, after a whole afternoon of digging through the storage unit where my wife packed my stuff, I have still not been able to find my copy of Swords&Spells (or Chainmail, or Men&Magic, OR Monsters&Treasure, OR Grayhawk....<sigh>) If someone has access to their copy, could you possibly give me a hand? About mid-way through the book there is a section on initiative and weapon length - there is a illo of a dward holding up a dagger in two hands and sweating while a smiling elf towers over him with a bastard sword... Would I be out of line in asking if someone could scan that one section for me, or even just typing out the list of weapons and the length classes into which they break them? Thank you.

Vielen Dank, mein Herr
(Can you tell I'm still testing German software?)
(On the bright side, I DID manage to find my copy of Midkemia's 'Cities', and my Ready Ref Sheets, and the Dragon CD archive, but some of those books are still AWOL)

I always wished that I'd gotten the Dragon CD archive. The ones I find on ebay are usually too expensive.

I always wished that I'd gotten the Dragon CD archive. The ones I find on ebay are usually too expensive. It's clearly worth it. Each issue is a part of a searchable program where you can type in subjects and it will return with possible articles that fit the criteria. Better yet, each issue is on the disk in PDF format and you can copy-paste from the PDFs!

I have mine somewhere in the garage, but I can't find it. It's a bit distressing, because I don't feel like dropping $200 to pick up a new one, which even at a $1 an issue is clearly a good bargain, but that's $200 I could use to get some old Paranoia Press books or a 4th print OD&D box, or the like.

I've actually been collecting more Traveller stuff than OD&D stuff lately, mostly because there is more of it to collect, and also because I've "completed" my OD&D collection (non-rares, of course).

It's one of those books I get where I wish I had been smart enough to buy it when it came out 20 years ago.

Maybe we should start a Midkemia thread in the "Third-Party" forum? I recently emailed them (the company still exists, more or less) asking if they had ever considered just scanning and putting out a PDF of their old house rules documents (the fabled "Tome of Midkemia") - I think it would be an interesting addition to our "Gamer Archaeology", but they replied saying that in their non-existant spare time, they are working on a d20 version, as there is far more of call for that (which recently fell through...well guys, now that you aren't doing d20...<hopeful grin?>.) Rats. www.midkemia.com/
