Hi there. I've seen some posts about making your own od&d box, but I can't seem to find any link to a store that sells 6 x 9 boxes.
Does anyone knows any place out there that sells boxes similar to the whitebox?
Thanks!

A company called Darice made a really nice cardboard box (which they graced with the label "paper-mache") that was the perfect size to hold the OD&D books. The problem is, they are no longer listed on the Darice website so one might assume they are no longer being sold. I have seen them at Michael's Craft Store, Hobby Lobby, and Hancock Fabrics; so they can still be bought. If you find them I would buy them right on the spot because may not be any more. I found one on the Joann Fabric Website: www.joann.com/darice-6-7-x9-5-x2-3-paper-mache-book/xprd635274/Another good alternative is candy boxes. You can get blank white ones that are very sturdy (not those flimsy folded ones).

If you're dead set on cardboard, I can't help you.
But I got a white tin box with a lid (like you might put cookies in) for 4.99 at Michael's. Perfect size, holds 3LBBs, Ref sheets, Greyhawk, Blackmoor, Chainmail and a couple of more things.
(I tried looking it up to post a link, but couldn't find it on their site.)

At Container Store in the US I got a Snap-Up storage box, 7 1/4 x 10 3/8 which is actually just big enough to hold my white box itself. It's black and looks nothing like the white box (which is flimsy). I also picked up a gift box there which is actually 8.5" x 11" but is a sturdy white box worthy of your valuable games.
Incidentally, I measured the "6x9" Original Collectors Edition white box, and got a number closer to 6 1/4 x 9 3/8 when measured at the lid (the base was indeed 6x9). The books themselves of course are a little smaller than 6x9. Just mentioning it because an exact match for the originals might require looking for a little larger size, perhaps.

Quick note: the Darice box fits the books very nicely ... like it was designed to hold them.

The box that my Ethernet card came packaged in turned out to be exactly the right size for all seven books. And it's white!

Thanks guys for the suggestions! I've seen the post about the paper-mache box before. Looks super cool, but I'm looking for a cardboard box like the old one Want to print the original cover and glue on the front lid ;D I've seen some gift boxes that look like good candidates. I wonder where John Adams from Brave Halfling gets his boxes. I have one of his Old schooll boxes and they are AWESOME!

I've tried to gently pressure John to make digest sized boxes suitable for the TLBBs. He always replies that is a future consideration. Here's hoping, but you should know if he does make them available they will not be cheap.

When I did this to put my supplements in I just used an old boardgame box and cut it down to size. It worked perfectly and wasn't difficult.

Couldn't you make one? I bought sheets of A3 card and made my own to the exact size. It's not that hard to do, just measure it out, glue it, stick some wood fablon on and your done. If you check my post, I made one a while back in the workshop forum.

It's harder than it seems. You need to get the lid exactly the right amount larger than the base so that it stays closed, but not so tight that you have to struggle to put it on. That's not an easy balance to achieve.

Some companies sell pipe tobacco in very nice tins, some of which just may be large enough for the LBB-sized stuff. I tell you what, you buy one, empty out all that tobacco, send it to me, and you can keep the tin.

Wouldn't the tobacco tin give my LLBs a tobacco smell ? I have a DM guide that came from a smoking home. It has a nice smell of flavored tobacco or something. Kinda magical ;D I don't want to try to build one because I'm sure I'll mess it up and eventually it will torn a part and let everything loose. I can barely staple my booklets Man... if John makes small game boxes I'm sure going to buy one or two.

Didn't you make some cardboard box-sets from supplies you got at Michael's, or am I just imagining that? And you gave me a slightly-bigger-than-6x9 box at one point, too--where'd that come from? The tin box sounds cool, too... now you need another one for your Traveller stuff... @b: I'd buy one if John offered it--espcially with an OTUS cover!

With a compound miter saw, some wood glue, a few right-angle or c-clamps, and some nice wood stain you could make a really nice box for your books. Red oak is cheap and the measurements are fairly basic.
I've been planning to do this for a while, so when I do I think I'm going to put together some instructions and take photos of the build progress.

Add in some adhesive red felt from Jo Ann Fabrics, too. Looks great on my dice tower.

I've used old wooden hinged cigar boxes I've bought at thrift stores. I'm pretty sure I've shown these off somewhere in this forum already. But FWIW... Attachments:

I've used old wooden hinged cigar boxes I've bought at thrift stores. That is perfect for me! There's a few tobacconist near me that sell their old boxes. I love the look of that wood grain box, with burned paper, and the dice tray is genius!

Now I know what to be on the lookout for as me and The Girl are always hitting up small-town antique shops and the like. Tell me more about that little screen you've created/inserted.

Tell me more about that little screen you've created/inserted. I've been unable to find the original that I used to make that little screen, but I'm pretty sure it was some JG charts copied and pasted into LibreOffice. If I find it, I'll PM you.
