Tirandir and Ædelwynn head back up the dark avenue, the strange elf leading the way. Ædelwynn wonders at his companion's eyesight, for pretty soon he cannot see a d**nable thing himself, and almost trips and sprawls on his face when they reach the broad stair...
...somewhere ahead must be the foul lizard kitchen, if the smell is anything to go by.
Neither of you can see much further. What now?

"Rather think we might need a smidgen more light, old boy," Ædelwynn whispers.
He will dig and his lantern and light it, doing his best to shield its radiance from any prying eyes that might be lurking in the shadows.

Tirandir would give scoff a bit at his own expense and wait for the lamp light before going on. A sudden thought of "oh this might be dangerous occurs to him so..." Arrow drawn and ready proceed with more caution.

The players did bring and burn a number of torches, true. That was quite some time ago now...

Ædelwynn eventually gets his lantern out and burning after fumbling about in the near dark for a minute or two, and then the pair are able to proceed, cautiously, all the way back to the stinking lizard lair, when the grim collections of corpses continue to grow colder...

OOC: We continue on with our errand blissfully unaware...... The Chaotic in me wants to use the dead bodies as meat shields to give the dragon something to breath at but alas we are fresh out of Animate Dead. -Mike

Tirandir and Ædelwynn proceed back down the arched passage toward the misty chamber where Dishmab fell by the light of Ædelwynn's lantern. They can already see the dull orange glow of guttering torchlight through the arch, ahead...

In another minute the intrepid pair arrive in the archway to overlook the water-logged, misty chamber containing the curiously fashioned column.
Two torches are guttering in scones afixxed to the walls -- one adjacent to the archway which Tirandir and Ædelwynn are peering though, the other opposite, by the narrow stair leading back the to surface. The torch-fires are clinging to their last few minutes of fuel, lending the blanket of mist an ochre-orange tint.
The fact that a major battle was fought here scarcely an hour earlier is completely concealed by the mist.
All is ominously silent.
What now?

Tirandir would motion Ædelwynn forward, he would be careful to skirt the open puddles. Espeically those nearest the fountain. Back to the stairway to retrieve the oil he saw earlier.

Very cautiously. ;D

The pair skirt the misty room, the feet sloshing through cold water once again, as they -- several times -- almost trip over bodies hidden beneath the mist. This aside, they reach the stair which climbs up and up to the swampy surface. They dun light from over indicates that they day is almost done...
Mist and water continues to trickle down the narrow stair from above, however.
What now?

The bodies of Firas and Mab are at the foot of the stair; two partially conceal bulks in the mist.
You can loot anything you like from... (check out their respective character sheets).

Tirandir rummages around the bodies, then start muttering to himself and double checking....Then he laughs in self mocking way. He grabs the 3 torches and then considers picking up one of the bodies....After a quick look back at where the rest of the party must be he decides to head back.
Double quick....... When we get to where the scones are replace the sputtering torch with a fresh one and light another one to carry down the long hallway.

Very good.
Supplies are rummaged from the bodies of the fallen, and then Ædelwynn samples the small goods while Tirandir lights the extra torches. Then the couple hasten back down the way they came...

ooc: If it makes any difference to the speed at which I arrive, if Tirandir hears the sound of combat he would break into a full run. At this point his carrying a weak light source himself so is less worried about stumbling blindly in the dark. I hate missing the all the fun!

Even at a reckless run, it will take two minutes to get back to where Tirandir and Aedlwynn left the others -- assuming no nasty surprises!
The pair sense trouble and begin their mutual dash, tearing the mist apart as their feet splash through the cold water!

Ædelwynn and Tirandir dash back toward the now audible sounds of fighting.
Through the arch formerly guard by lizardmen, past the ruined lizard cook-site, and down the wide boulevard they fly... they can now see the light at the end of the tunnel ahead!
By the end of next round they can reach the archway entrance to the dragon's lair if they so wish.
