Hi everyone. Hope everyone is having a blast with the game. Regretfully I have not kept up with the story and now have a LL PbP game of my own to take care of. So I'll leave my place in the waiting line to someone else.
Happy gaming!

Argh I'm so mad at myself.... I guess I was looking at Dishmaeve Character Sheet not Dishmabs and so thought something was there that is not.... Sooooo I've totally wasted my time and left the party in danger. Sorry guys bad playing on my part.

I don't know... if the dragon obliterates the rest of the party, it will seem like a very clever move to be "elsewhere"

May lose power with that big US East Coast storm coming, so proceed without me if I am unresponsive. When in doubt, assume The Herald wants to kill everything.

I'm back. The storm pretty much left me alone.
Now we'll see if that dragon will do the same...

That's up to you The Herald, Gaspard, and Vangelis have all declared their intentions to attack.

I think he's waiting for Mot to throw that flask of oil. Can we assume he attempts to do so and move on?

Actually, Mot hasn't thrown the oil yet because of fear of "friendly fire".
DD, Vol 3: "Firing into melee would be extremely risky and is not normally allowed."

Alas poor Gaspard and Vangelis! But this is often the fate of would be dragon slayers! If there are any players in waiting still reading this, I'm going to call it "all done" after the dragon encounter, so unfortunately you've missed out. I hope you enjoyed following along all the same, and are encouraged to start your own games

For the players still standing (or smouldering) you could say you've been a little unlucky. Had either of the two 15s rolled by clerics been rolled instead by fighters, that would have been two hits. And The Herald was, perhaps, unlucky to roll a 1 for damage... three "average" fighter hits might have killed the monster... or at least severely weakened its breath weapon!
On the other hand, the players have broken up into three groups; those that went back looking for oil, those that still loiter in the passageway, and those that attacked the dragon regardless. Probably not the "ideal" way to confront a dragon, but that's what happens in PBP games. A story to tell, at the very least... And it ain't over yet!

Good luck to the survivors, and thanks for the game, Ways!
Yeah, in hindsight we probably should have worked harder to get a consensus and a plan, but as you say, that's what happens in PbP games.

One shots, by their very nature, tend to encourage rash play. And I've found that in PBP games, sometimes it's better to act (just to keep things moving) than bumble with your hands in your pockets, so that probably contributed some to our demise.
Still, fun game as ever, ways.
Vangelis, it was an honor to be melted along side you. Gods be praised.

Sorry Sully, The Herald has gone down fighting!
It is just Mot, Tirandir and Ædelwynn left, plus any help they can get from Jaras or Malevaque.
Will they be able to destroy the dragon and get the treasure?
Or will it be a TPK?
;D

Such are the ways (no pun intended) of the inscrutable Gods.
Perhaps another will be chosen to herald the rise of Man... if such a replacement were needed elsewhere. I will speak no more of it, lest I jinx the survival chances of a certain dwarf exploring the fringes of civilization.

Poor Jaras -- destroyed just before the treasure counting bit! Ah, but isn't that the fate of many a jolly adventurer?

Poor Jaras -- destroyed just before the treasure counting bit! Ah, but isn't that the fate of many a jolly adventurer? Indeed, he had probably just been sleeping off those wounds and dreaming of golden honey mead. He awakes, and shoots, and now he's lying dead.

That closes out the Delving Deeper demo game guys. Commiserations to those who were slain, congratulations to the survivors, and most of all thanks to all who participated! Apologies to those in the wait list who didn't get a go, I hope you enjoyed the ride all the same, and will be inspired to run your own DD games For your interest, the magic-user scroll from the dragon's hoard was cursed, and the cunning Malaveque was magically transported to an alternate (and rather unfriendly, we suppose!) plane of existence when he opened it ;D

Also, FWIW -- the remaining three PCs still had 8,320 gp worth of treasure to divide. Assuming they divided the loot evenly, they would have earned 2,773 XP each (not counting XP for defeating monsters, or any XP bonuses). Therefore, all three would have reached 2nd level for any subsequent session Congratulations !

Great, unexpected twist there, at the end! Thanks for the game, Simon.
Mot was incredibly lucky with the dice rolls. In the kobold battle he was attacked six times and every one missed, but each of his two attacks hit and killed a kobold (and he charmed another). In the dragon battle, he hit the dragon twice (oil & dagger) and made his save vs dragon breath. I had expected him to perish in each battle!
