I've been teaching English at a small private school in Korea for the past three months. It's been pretty fun, but I decided that it could be more fun if I played D&D with some of my classes.
7:30 class, meets Fridays and Tuesdays.
Last Friday:
Class creates characters. Two magic-users, a Cleric, a Fighter, and a Thief. The students name their characters after themselves.
The thief attempted to rob a store during character creation. The shopkeeper caught him in the act however and called four town guards to arrest the thief.
After a failed Turn Undead attempt (the guards are not zombies!) the party defeats the guards with a Sleep spell. After evading capture, the party decides to flee the town and hide out in the mountains.
Yesterday:
While exploring the mountains, the party encounters a travelling group of priests on a sacred pilgrimage. After a failed pick-pocketing attempt, the party decided to kill the priests and steal all their items.
They decide to take shelter and divide up their loot in a nearby cave. The entrance to the cave is decorated with human skulls. The party goes in anyway.
Anyway, the class had fun.
They learned a bunch of new words including:
Summoning ("one of the priests makes a bunch of fire beetles appear")
Charisma (the students actually knew this word from some pop song, but they didn't know what it meant)
bow (they know what bows are, just not the English word for it)
oil ("it's for making fire")
lantern ("LIKE FLASHLIGHT?!" "...yes.")
The kids seem to be under the impression that this game is based on Maple Story, however.
