I've been wanting to read some/one of Moorcock's Elric tales, but don't know where to start. What I've found online is a bit too detailed (with reference to reprints, collections, etc.). Can anyone steer me in the direction of a starting point, and possibly a simple sequence?
Thanks in advance.

Depending upon how much of the series you want to read, you might check out Elric: the Stealer of Souls, which is a somewhat recent (2008) trade paperback that contains many of the original stories as found in pulp magazines. It has the first group of stories written, which I have found to be my favorites. Under $11 new at Amazon! Less than that used! www.amazon.com/Elric-Stealer-Chronicles-Emperor-Melnibon%C3%A9/dp/0345498623If you want the entire series, follow foxroe's link instead. As I said, the first stories are my favorites and you can get the best of Elric for pretty cheap.

1. The Dreaming City - Vol. 12. While the Gods Laugh - Vol. 13. The Stealer of Souls - Vol. 14. Kings in Darkness - Vol. 15. The Flame Bringers - Vol. 16. To Rescue Tanelorn… - Vol. 27. Stormbringer - Vol. 18. The Singing Citadel - Vol. 29. The Sleeping Sorceress - Vol. 310. Elric of Melniboné - Vol. 311. The Jade Man’s Eyes - Vol. 2Here I have tried to make it (hopefully) as straightforward as possible. These are the stories that had been printed prior to OD&D and Sup. IV and seem to have been an influence on them, listed in publication order and with links to the collections you can find them in (which are in-print and ideal, so don’t worry about having to hunt for anything out-of-print).
