I just found a new game store in Downers Grove, Illinois. I know that there are quite a few Chicagoland gamers on these boards, so I thought I'd drop a quick note on this. It's called "Fair Game" and their slogan is "where fun and family meet". It's a somewhat small store at the moment, inventory-wise and nowhere as amazing as Games Plus in Mt. Propspect. When I stopped in, however, I found: 1. Two guys who love games and were willing to both talk about games and demo games for customers. (A couple of families came in and they showed the kids how to play some games.) 2. It's a place with some gaming tables in the back and they encourage folks to come in and play. They have a bunch of board games and some role-playing stuff. They had several "indie" RPGs, which is kind of neat because a lot of stores don't carry those products. Again, not a huge inventory at the moment, because they don't want to buy stuff that no one wants to buy, but they hope to grow as they get a better feel of the pulse of their customer base. They said they could special order game things for me. Here's their webpage: fairgamestore.com/wp/?7cc269b0I may have to demo C&C there sometime. They had heard of it but didn't have any copies. A shame!

That looks pretty cool! I love that small gaming stores seem to be popping up more frequently these days...

OMG - there is really a place called Downers Grove?? I thought Emo Philips made that up! There really is a Downers Grove. It's a western suburb of Chicago, and I live near there. (My kids go to the Downers Grove school district.) I believe that actress Denise Richards was born in Downers Grove, but moved out before she hit high school.

Yes, Virginia, there really is a Downers Grove.
That's a hop/skip/jump from where I work (Schiller Park) - thanks Fin!
On that note, there's a new gamestore in Gurnee as well - the Board Game Barrister. She said he was very interested in what was going on with the old school RPG stuff, although the store is obviously geared towards board games.
