Let me start with this-
This thread is not about if this should be done but rather how would it be done.
I was thinking about using the Glorantha campaign setting with OD&D rules.
I think it would work.

Certainly it could be done. How it would be done would definitely depend on just what flavor you wanted to include. Gloranthan magic is definitely not well modeled by D&D magic, so if you wanted to have a Gloranthan flavor to magic, there would be some significant work. A bunch of new creatures would need to be statted up, but that's not all that horrible.

One idea I had for magic was use a system of learning/memorization like it is presented in RQ but using 1st level and some 2nd level spells in place of battle magic. I have been brainstorming some notes and once I have something more organized I will post it.

An early issue of "Wyrm's Footnotes" had an article with D&D stats for various hero-figures from WB&RM (Argrath, Harrek, Jar-Eel, Beat-pot, etc.) written up by Dave Hargrave of Arduin fame. The mid-90s reprint volume Wyrm's Footprints actually included this article, for whatever reason...

I think it could, esp. since early RQ isn't that far removed from OD&D. Boils down to what you want from Glorantha, just setting fluff or how much to implement Glorantha cults, runes, magic, creatures etc. into your game? Also, over at K&K Alehouse there was a list of OD&D conventions (i.e. houserules) by one of the early Runequest/Chaosium people. Very RQish. Some of them may have influenced Holmes Basic FWIW. The Perrin Conventions(edit: posted by I believe the same foster as upthread )
