Anyone know of a classic D&D discussion channel on IRC? preferably something semi-conversational and not militantly topical.

Hi Capheind. I don't frequent IRC, but I do hang out on the Dragonsfoot Chat channel (Java-based Xchat) these days. You are cordially invited to join us anytime. Peak times are around 10pm-4am US-EST, with lesser smatterings of people in the mornings and early evening as well. www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/x7chat2/#The "DF Lounge" is all-gamer friendly. RPG topics tend to be focused on the two AD&D editions, but B/X and OD&D are also discussed. We need more OD&Ders at DF!

Ages ago I used IRC very frequently. I've run and played games on IRC too. I did a bit of poking around on a couple of networks recently, and there are some folks playing 4E via IRC. A few folks I talked to were interested in playing old school games, but only a handful of them.
I have been thinking about play-by-forum games recently (gamers are a bit difficult to find in my new area), but my experience with play-by-forum and PBEM is rather limited. IRC, however, I find to be an excellent medium for running and playing.
Anyone out there interested in getting an IRC based campaign (or five) going? I'd really like to be able to play some in addition to DMing, but I am up for running a game via IRC.
Does anyone know of a network with a good dice bot? I'm not sure if the ones that have previously used on Dalnet and Undernet are still running.

I was also considering getting an IRC game going but I was hoping to find a face to face one first. Still if I don't find any local players, I'll probably play my whitebox Yvonne game via IRC. I'd just have to get a decent bot running to make things go smooth.

Hmm, I've run an IRC channel in the past on my home box. How many would be interested in such a thing? And what features?
* general chit chat * game lobby - announce, sign up * campaign chat ...
