Sunday July 25, I believe.
Note that 'open submissions' just means stuff people are sending in cold...solicited articles and art are often due later. That date is the cutoff for stuff that basically just comes in and that we 'build the issue out of'.
So what are people thinking about submitting?
I have a bit of a cautionary note for issue 10. There is a huge dungeon level as well as the undercity of Khosura already slated for the issue. So, I think it will be a bit of a 'themed' issue on underworlds/undercities/underdarks/megadungeons. You can use that as inspiration, or not, for your own submission ideas - we're not going to be dogmatic about it.
But, I want to give a heads up that space will be even tighter than usual in #10. Those of you whose articles we have accepted but are sitting on, we will let you know as soon as we do, and thank you for your great submissions and your patience.
I am curious what people are thinking about though.

Might a comic strip about the Underdark or megadungeons be of interest...?

It would, esp. your humorous single panel/three panel stuff. But what about Mooning Ixtandraz? Whatever you come up with we'll be happy to get it.

I can work up a Grognard's Grimoire submission covering hypogean, tenebrous and troglobitic magics.
(Which reminds me that I need to reread The Dying Earth!)

I could also write an article on my experiences designing and running a megadungeon, or about running convention-goers through one's megadungeon (which I'm going to do next month -- wish me luck!)

I hope to submit something written for Encounter Critical. Since space is tight, I'll be sure to keep it under one page. Perhaps a crazy encounter area that can be dropped into any dungeon level with no trouble at all. My ideas are rather nebulous at this point, but they involve Shotgun Warriors, Kong, and 1-2 Godzillas.

All that stuff sounds deleriously cool. It's past time we had an EC article, and I'm always a sucker for alternative magic systems, and the megadungeon article fits the theme - so thanks!
Geoffrey, I also still have a monster you submitted that I'll use when appropriate. I had enough stuff from Zak this time that I decided to make the C&C entry all his beasties this time out.
Keep up the good work, and thanks for the support!

That would be great! If you have some stuff you just want to submit, send it my way; otherwise we will send out illustration requests towards the end of July.

Would a review/comparison of Mongoose's RuneQuest II and OpenQuest (a quasi-clone of Avalon Hill's RQ) be of any interest?

Will there be another round of Random's Traps? I really enjoy doing the art for them but will happily try my hand at something else instead if needed.

I have just drawn an owlbear for my group's current campaign, and I'd be happy to share it if anyone wants to write something that uses the monster. Although be aware, he's a happy owlbear.

Yes, we will do another round of traps - and people besides Random should post in that thread! Ant, your illos for that are fantastic, so if you want to pick a few traps and start illustrating them, do that any time.
Akrasia, yes on that review, maybe for both?
And, we always need more bearowls!

I'm trying to write up, from my ongoing notes, a procedure for creating Sandbox Dungeons; that is, dungeon exploration that is played out like wilderness exploration.

I actually expected to complete it a month ago, so there was considerable delay. Sleep easier? ;D
