Seriously, I feel like I'm going to just explode. This place makes me sick. Anyone know of any good day jobs in the neighborhood of 30k/yr. in Pittsburgh that offer tuition benefits? Seriously.
I have a bachelor's degree and am pursuing my Master's, and am sick and tired of standing still and feeling trapped on a daily basis.

Can't help you on the job front, but I can (and do) sympathize. And I agree with Jcstephens, let 'er rip. We're here for you.

I"m currently totally jobless, and being me, that is about as stressed as I get. I like working...

I wish I could say I feel your pain, but as I've said here before, I love my job. Just get to looking, and if you're at a university and all, it's an okay bet you might find work through a connection/recommendation.

Always happy to try to find people jobs at my company, but so far no luck on that front. A willingness to travel is a plus because that opens up sales & services opportunities.

I understand your position, thegreyelf. It's no fun, feeling helpless & trapped. My last job I absolutely loathed. Hated getting up in the morning. Hated everything about it & (just about) everyone I worked with. Then one day, budgets were cut, I got hurt on the job, & after 6 months on WC, my position was eliminated. I've been unemployed ever since (Dec. '09). The only silver lining is that my wife does really well at her teaching position, & I'm enrolled in school - slated to start the fall term. Without my wife at my side, we'd be sunk! Keep your head up, eyes down, a Positive Mental Attitude, & keep looking!

I feel the same way about my wife. I feel guilty about pregnant doging, actually, because my last job was far worse than this one. Even still, that doesn't make this good.
I'm in grad school, but I have another whole year before graduation, and this job is paying for 50% of my schooling...

See if you can take a leave of absence, then get a temp job at a fast food place flipping burgers and mopping up puke. When you're done, go back to your "real" job and find out it really wasn't that bad after all

I spent 4 days short of a year unemployed, so on one level I want to say "be thankful you HAVE a job"... But on the other hand, the last 9 months I spent at my previous job the boss wanted to get rid of me and thoroughly enjoyed looking for the excuse. He basically set me two goals that were mutually exclusive, and put me with someone who was impossible to please. 9 months of working 12 to 16 hours a day, trying to fulfill both goals, while they kept me dancing like a puppet on a string, all while trying to deal with a divorce. I'm frankly surprised that I held on as long as I did.
Was it better than a year of unemployment, sending out resume after resume, only to hear nothing, or that I was "overqualified" - while still dealing with the ongoing divorce? I don't know - but I'm certainly not going to fault you for hating your job and wanting to find something else.
Good luck, man, and good hunting.
(One hint: in this economy, you're looking for a 40k job that is currently paying 30. I used to make 68k; now I'm only getting 40.)
