Welcome to my Big Little Sale.
I'm thinning out my game shelf, and I'd like to give some of the old school enthusiasts around here a chance to comb thru the loot before I drop this stuff of ebay. Maybe it won't happen, but I would like to think that some of these items will end up in the hands of folks who will actually use them.
If you are interested in buying any of these items, please say so here or email me at waysoftheearth at yahoo dot com dot au.
This is not an auction. I am open to any "reasonable" offers and will sell on a "first in with a reasonable offer wins" basis. Please do bear in mind that I am in Australia, so international shipping will likely add a bit to the cost if you are not.
So, here is the loot...
Forgotten Realms (d20 3e or 3.5e, not sure which) by Ed Greenwood, Skip Williams et. al., 320 pages with full colour fold out map (never removed from perforations, still attached to inside rear cover). Absolute mint condition. I bought this brand new for an upcoming game which never got off the ground, so it has rarely been off my bookshelf. I can't see any printing notes, but I am guessing it must have been printed some time around 2004.
AD&D Dragonlance Adventures by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, 128 page hardback in good, but not "collectable", condition throughout. A previous owner has written his name and phone number in blue ink on the inside front cover. A few pages show a minor yellowing spots, most notably inside the front and rear covers. The remainder of pages seem to be pretty neat. This copy was printed in Australia under license by Jedko in 1987 (according to the printer's mark at the bottom of page 1).
AD&D Monster Manual by Gary Gygax, 112 page hardback in almost near mint condition. 6th print, 1981. There are some *very* minor signs of shelf life at the top of the front cover, which only a truely fastidious collector would care about. What makes this otherwise beautiful copy only "almost" near mint, is that a previous owner has used an embossing stamp (no ink) on the bottom left of page 1.
B/X Basic Rules edited by Tom Moldvay, 64 page soft cover, with 3 punch holes for ring binder. The inside front cover claims it to be the 1st printing, 1981. Overall, it is in "fine" shape. It has clearly been used "in game" -- the page edges a softened by use, and there are quite a few pencil notes made throughout (these could easily be erased if one was so included). Despite this, it is a neat, tight copy -- ideal for hands on use
B/X Expert Rules Boxed Set still in the original shrink wrap! I believe it is the first print (since the "Stop! Read This" message on the back of the box is printed in black, at the latest copyright date listed is 1980). It isn't opened, of course, but inside one would expect to find the 64 page soft cover rule booklet, X1 The Isle of Dread, and six uncoloured dice and a crayon. The only thing that prevents this set being absolutely mint is a small near-tear in the top left corner of the front of the box (see the close up picture). It looks to me as though another, larger, box was put on top of this set at one time. That is a bit of a shame, but this is still an outstanding item for any D&D enthusiast
Holmes Boxed Set, basic rules edited by Eric J. Holmes, 46 page soft cover booklet in box. I believe the box itself is probably the 4th print, 1978. It has the lizard logo, and the top-left yellow banner claims "With Introductory Module". The basic rules booklet is probably a 5th to 7th print, however, since it has the wizard logo on the cover. There is no introductory module, or any other content in the set. The box itself is in strong, bright, undamaged condition. The rule booklet is in good shape, though the page edges don't line up perfectly when the booklet is closed (looks like that was the case ever since it left the press). The pages themselves are neat and bright throughout, perhaps just off-white. Minor staple rust is visible on only the top staple.
Now, the reeeeal good stuff...
OD&D Supplement I Greyhawk. 12th printing, November 1979 (according to the inside front cover), in very good condition -- I would say "not quite" near mint, but very good none the less. It is unmarked, strong and straight edged. The pages are clean, bright and white. The only noticable flaws are that the staples are rusty, and there are the remains of a removed price sticker at the bottom left corner of the rear cover. A very worthwhile copy if you don't already have one
OD&D Supplements II, III and IV. Blackmoor (9th print), Eldritch Wizardry (9th print) and Gods, Demigods and Heroes (7th print). All three are in good, solid condition. These are gaming books, and look as though they have been used in gaming. The covers are again discoloured by removed price stickers (visible in the pictures), and are softening around the edges from use. However, the books are all strong, tightly bound, and the contents are straight, clean and surprisingly bright. The staples are all showing some signs of rust, but over all these are all great working copies of the great classics.
And, the big one...
OD&D OCE Boxed Set. A complete, 6th print, OCE OD&D boxed set. This set is a little worse for wear, but I have seen many in far worse condition on ebay.
The box itself is somewhat yellowed and is showing signs of an active shelf life. Its main flaws are one split corner, and a tear (both shown in the pictures).
The reference sheets are a bit loose and stained with with water marks and age spots, but they are all there and "feature complete".
The three LBBs themselves are stained from use (as you can see in the pictures), but there is no doubt that they are perfectly servicable. The staples are rusty, but not so much as to further stain the pages or question the binding. All three volumes are still strongly bound and perfectly useful as a reading copy for an eager D&D enthusiast out there. In fact, I have been using these as my own reading copy in recent years! If you don't have your own boxed set yet, this would make a very fine place to start.
Enjoy...
