Hi All,
I have been swept up in the mini-fad of using chainmail with OD&D, and I had the idea of using the Mutation table from the Warhammer Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness book when a Magic User rolls a snake-eyes on the Spell Complexity chart, as well as other things. Although I could eyeball it, I would like a consistent way to apply the bonuses and penalties. Here is what I was thinking:
Movement: A normal unarmoured human has a movement of 4, which corresponds to 12' in chainmail, so a +1 Move equals 3' of movement. Weapon and Ballistic Skill: Not sure what to do here. Perhaps a bonus/penalty in Man to Man only but not troop combat? Strength: Each point corresponds to 3 points in Strength (which will apply to the xp bonus for fighters). Toughness: Again, not sure what to do here. Perhaps an increase in Armor Class? Wounds: An extra "Man", but only in terms of hits that con be sustained, instead of fighting ability? Initiative: Ugh I don't know. Attack: This will give characters another roll in troop combat, or perhaps a reroll. Looking at the mutation table in RoC:StD, this will be granted most often by the character growing goat horns, so maybe there allowing the character to charge as an appropriate horse?
Has anyone tried to reconcile Warhammer and Chainmail together like this?

I don't think I've ever tried using WH stuff directly through CM, but it could work in principle if you are willing to ignore or substitute the stuff that doesn't carry over.
It also depends on which combat tables you are using. In either case, WS from WH is all about increasing the likelihood you get a killing hit before they do, so for CM I might just turn that into morale rating. If you are using the Man-Man tables, then I would suggest turning Initiative into modifying your weapon class, since that number helps determine who goes first. If using the 1:20 tables, BS can change the soldiers needed to roll on the different archery columns. In Man-Man, BS could either change up the range band modifiers, or just give a modifier to the attack roll.
