We started our journey in a small pirate town and have heard some rumors about a stranded whale and treasure hidden among the reef to the north. We also knew about a light tower which some of the other characters have visited previously. We were interested in exploring the light tower but we were in agreement that the whale won’t be there forever, so we should check that out first. Our goal was to collect whale oil, which we could sell for a decent price. We decided to bring three hirelings and rented a cart to bring back the oil. As it turned out the money spent on these preparations were in vain as we never even got to extracting any oil. Instead, two party members decided to start a fight against the two giant crabs (size of a car each) that were feeding from the whale carcass at the time. I, a frail Magic-User, stood back, not being convinced we could win this fight. My two party members got severely injured but got away. We decided to retreat to town.
After resting a few days, we decided to check out the light house. We first entered the shack which was previously explored and see if there was anything to be looted in the basement. It turned out that the second giant beetle was already dead, and large rats were eating its corpse. The rats were easily scared by our torch, and we went inside. There, we found an alchemists table with some unlabeled potions on it, which we took, except for one, which was immediately drank by the cleric and turned out to be a fire resistance potion. These were probably from the alchemist which we heard took over the tower.
Going back up, we entered the main tower. I had a plan to use my Levitation spell to get up to the top of the tower, but it was unfortunately not possible due to the tower being too high up. So, we just went inside. On the second floor, we encountered two giant mushrooms. Our cleric burst through one of the windows to climb the tower from the outside to avoid the mushrooms. Then, possibly due to the sound of the glass, the mushrooms came to life and started moving towards the cleric. He ran upstairs and me and my other party member with our two retainers fought off the beefy mushrooms. We looted the room, finding two more potions. A cabinet was opened, which I assumed contained some deadly spores, and it did. The party member who opened it luckily succeeded in his death save. Inside was a pouch with strange coins which were worth a good amount of silver pieces. We went back to town and that’s where the session ended.
