Some may have heard this game mentioned on the forum a time or two. Long time out of print. Original copies fetching a premium. Bill Owens has released it once more with updated rules as a pdf. Pretty cool. It can be found at The Wargame Vault. Also, you can buy a printed version of the rules or its predecessor Fast Rules at Game Design website.

I still have my TRACTICS from the 1970's. Still never played the thing. I bought it (and DGUTS and some other of the old TSR miniatures rules) hoping the Gygax magic from Chainmail would inspire me. Not so much. Someday I probably should sell a bunch of those.

Not so much. Someday I probably should sell a bunch of those. I think you have to be a little bit of a history buff, or you were that kid who played army guys in the back yard, to enjoy Tractics. Maybe you should look into getting a copy of Fast Rules. Vastly simplified set of rules covered in about a dozen pages, so a quick read. If you go to the Game Design website I found the links for the printed versions are actually on Amazon and Lulu. Fast Rules is a mere $13.
