Currently re-reading some of the old Fafhrd & Grey Mouser stories and it got me thinking again about gaming in Lankhmar. I have several source materials on my bookshelf at the moment:
(1) The Lankhmar board game by TSR in the 70's. Rules by Rob Kuntz, I think, and several development articles in early Dragon magazine. This game has the distinction of being the only hex map of Nehwon of which I am aware.
(2) Early source materials for D&D. I think that Nehwon is in the Gods, Demigods and Heroes supplement, but if not it's certainly in the AD&D 1E Deities and Demigods book, so it's a part of the D&D canon since the late 70's.
(3) AD&D Boxed Set. The biggest thing that this has going for it is that the setting is written for OD&D/AD&D style play. Great boxed set, some nifty modules. Great city map of Lankhmar. I have a lot of stuff in this series that I never really used much for some reason.
(4) RQ Lankhmar. A couple of setting books by Mongoose Games around the time they were releasing their own version of RuneQuest. (They also did an Elrick sourcebook around the same time, if my memory serves me correctly.) I don't really play RQ, but I had to buy the books.
(5) Savage Lankhmar. I bought the whole set of stuff at the time, they may have added more later. Three hardback books, map, and GM screen. I also don't play much Savage Worlds so I haven't used this much, but it seems to be pretty well done.
(6) DCC Lankhmar. Bought into the KS with boxed set and 8 modules. (I think they are up to 11 now.) Very well done, as Goodman Games and Mike Curtis tend to do with products. DCC has the advantage that it's a lot easier to convert to D&D than RQ or SW, IMO.
So that's at least 6 journeys into the world of Nehwon that I'm aware of over the years. Any that I've missed?
