In Dragon Magazine #70, Frank Mentzer wrote a page-long article on Falling Damage. It references the prior issue where Gary Gygax inserted a revision (?) to the AD&D falling damage rules in a sidebar, making it geometric-based, e.g.: 1d6 at 10', 3d6 at 20', 6d6 at 30', etc. Mentzer wrote:
I'm wondering if anyone who played or has close knowledge of Gary's games could comment on this. Did he do it this way in OD&D games? In AD&D games? Was there a known switchover-point? Did he run AD&D games?
