Thanks for asking. I give a base attack bonus of 1 point per fighter/monster level, 2/3 per thief (or cleric) level, 1/2 per wizard level. (Or of you prefer: 2/2, 2/3, 2/4.) That's sort of between the progression seen in the OD&D d20-based tables and 1E. Okay, so you are, in fact, doing it like talysman and I do it, but less granular and more chunky like the original tables. I like that. Thanks.

Does anybody here use B/X style ability score bonuses in OD&D? Specially keeping monster HD 1d6. I think delta does (though keeping 18 as +2). Anybody can share their experience with that? Just before starting a group on Palace of the Vampire Queen, run with LBBs+Greyhawk abilities, but still d6 HD and damage, I did a survey of ability score modifiers in the LBBs, Greyhawk, Strategic Review, Holmes, Moldvay and Warlock rules (the Spartan version), I also reversed engineered ability score al la Rob Kuntz from early PC and NPCs. See: odd74.proboards.com/thread/14098/comparing-ability-modifiersCame very close to tossing in the kitchen sink, including Moldvay. Having planned to let the players roll 2d6+6 in order, I decided that was enough of an edge when I realized just how big the bonuses could be. I might just recon and bring in some of those bonuses in the end.

So what did you do in the end?

So what did you do in the end? Most Greyhawk with a smidge of Warlock. If I wanted to boost it, I would toss in the Kuntz modifiers.

I have never seen the Kuntz modifiers, where can I see them? I pieced it together from the El Raja Key Archive. It is a DVD with scans of lots of material from Rob. This is a resource that does not get enough attention. grodog will know more.

I like the low power curve of the stats in OD&D. I thought about putting the Moldvay/Cook bonuses in, but it starts to change the game a lot in my opinion. At a certain point house rules generally bring it closer to newer versions.
