Looks more like a knife, as Dungeon Debbie noticed. But if it really is made of Vikings, I guess it would be a Viking knife.

It is real. I think it's largely a professional dig, but I do think there's a doctoral candidate at UCC also on the team doing research. Really exciting stuff. However, the item mentioned is not a sword sword, but a weaving sword, also called a shed stick. It's used to shed the yarn. Archaeologically speaking, Ireland is famous for being a weird habitat. Relatively intact examples of wood and even fabric have been found surviving for centuries longer than they would have in more normal places.
