I'll be there! Look for the person in all the Manowar shirts and you'll spot me. I guess I just missed you last year. Either way, great gaming all and I look forward to it!
Edit: Not running games this Gary Con, but looking forward to playing in some! Also looking forward to seeing Gronan and others for the once a year visit! What shall I draw this time?

Are any of these games being streamed? I'd love to watch Mike ref CM and OD&D, if possible.
Actually, I'd love to watch anyone on this forum ref any Con game!! I know some Cons stream and some don't. Not sure about GaryCon.

Sounding off for roll call. Registration level is only silver, so not sure in what events I'll be participating. Either way I'll be looking for the lot of you and hovering at your events in hopes of absentees, and at least to put faces to names.

Unable to attend this year, which sucks because there is an awful lot of cool stuff going on. Say hi to Satine for me. Looking at the hotel situation, it looks like the ones mentioned on the site are completely booked already. When do badges typically go on sale for the following year? I'm never going to make it to XI unless I start saving now...

Here are my Gary Con X events:

The tomb of the legendary hero-twins, Tekla and Taticus, has been confirmed as lying along the Drowned Canyon, deep within the deadly Halls of Arden Vul. Your shadowy patron has hired you to locate the tomb and 'liberate' the famous Gemini blades from it. The catch? The imperial authorities are planning to do the same. You have three days to locate and loot the tomb before the official expedition descends like a hammer. A mid-level exploratory expedition into the deadly Halls of Arden Vul, a new megadungeon by Richard "Rick" Barton, to be published by Expeditious Retreat.

Update: my Friday night event is cancelled, as I'm helping Paul Stormberg to DM his tourney. I don't know where/when that'll be listed yet.

Mike is a great (and hilarious DM). The only problem last year were some problematic players.

I don't think it was problematic players technically; it was conflicting modes of play.
"Deep roleplay reacting to everything from the character POV" doesn't really work in OD&D. There are too many artifacts that are there because it's a game.
That said, SOMEBODY please take CHARGE and lead the d**n group in some EXPLORATION. Lord Gronan is getting tired of watching y'all dither and is tempted to send the XVIII Legion of Balrogs to take care of the issue.

I really wish he hosted a weekly D&D show. He would be a perfect fit since he has such a natural microphone presence. Maybe if we keep pestering him, he'll start up an online game with his buddies that we can watch on Youtube or Twitch. I know I would tune in primarily to be entertained, and secondarily to learn more about his DM-style and be better educated on the subject of old-school gaming. Aaaaaand, he could make some extra beer money from it to boot!! Wishful thinking...

There is a central conceit to D&D that players need to buy into. Namely, D&D is a GAME first and foremost. Some people always want to take the "G" out of "RPG".

Especially with stuff like "Monsters can see in the dark. Doors always open automatically for monsters. But if the monsters are hired by the PCs the monsters lose these abilities."
It makes NO sense at all in terms of "world simulation". But as a game, it's perfectly reasonable.

Now, back in the day Gary used to ref hiding behind the drawers of his file cabinet. We could hear but couldn't see. That is no different from gaming by Skype or whatever. If somebody wants to set this up technologically, I'm game. I'm retired; my time is MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!

That being said, Mike would you ever consider running an OD&D game via skype maybe once a month for us OD&Ders?

I'll be there. Since I'm on staff at the show afternoons and evenings belong to Luke, Mike, Cliff and Frank. Don't have anything scheduled to run, however am debating what would be good to offer up for some games at the drop-in tables. Last year I ran a 0D&D Wilderlands Game, Traveller, and Gamma World. Am very likely to run morning pickup games of these again, and am debating whether or not to bring my BSG fleet to run a New Battlestar Galactica game... Also am open to suggestions. Anyone here want to especially see any game run in the morning slot of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday? New Battlestar Galactica

I'm looking forward to this. I register on Saturday. First time in four years I decided not to get a Gold badge. Let's see what happens. Either way, introduce yourself if I don't know you.

Show up for "Magic Users with Knives" even if you don't have a ticket. Let me know who you are. Smubee too. Mike, if we can't stay past 10 (because we have a long drive back to Chicagoland each night of the convention), could I drop into the game for just the first four hours? Or would that be too rude to you and the other players?

Why have we never thought to do this before? That would truly be awesome! There are several users here on discord as well. Discord is another voip/chat app that is easy to use. And editing after GaryCon ticket purchasing: I was fortunate enough to get in on @gronanofsimmerya magic-users with knives game, Zenopus Saturday morning Tower of Zenopus session, and chicagowiz Friday afternoon minis game A Ford Over Troubled Waters (tried like hell to get that last slot for your AD&D game, but it didn't happen). Also tried for Pokorny's Sunday session but its slots went away as I was spamming the purchase button. I'll save up for the gold ticket next year. Also picked up one session of a Tekumel game since I've never experienced it but read a lot about it. Looking forward to meeting as many of you from the board as possible. I'll be sure to scribble Fergus on my name tag. Always open to pickup games or visiting. I am sure to be pestering scottenkainen often.
