I just learned elsewhere that in the alignment chart on page 9 of Men & Magic, pre-Tolkien purge, Balrogs appeared in the gap between Men and Evil High Priests. Now I'm curious what might have been in the other gaps.
There's a gap between Ghouls and Wraiths. Was Nazgul there? Were those different than wraiths?
There are also gaps between Treants and Unicorns and between Griffons and Animals. Were these gaps filled with something?

In my 3rd print Wights is between Ghouls & Wraiths. There is still a gap between Ents & Unicorns, and a gap between Dryads & Animals. My first print .pdf concurs with that as well.
My 6th print says there are Griffons between Dryads & Animals, but still has a gap between them and between Treants & Unicorns, and also has the gap between Ghouls & Wraiths.
Weird formatting!

In comparing the alignment chart with the monster reference table in Vol 2, I have the following observations:
The following monsters are not on the alignment table: Skeletons/Zombies, Cockatrices, Basilisks, Invisible Stalkers, Elementals, Djinn, Efreet.
Here are some other monsters not on the alignment table, IMO, with good reason: Ochre Jelly, Black Pudding, Green Slime, Gray Ooze, Yellow Mold . . .
Patriarchs and Evil High Priests appear on the alignment table but are not listed on the monster reference table (with good reason).
Also, it seems to me that Golden Dragons should be listed under Law.
Incidentally, I would like to see an updated alignment table that lists and organizes all of the monsters appearing in the supplements as well.
EDIT: some explanations - Skeletons/Zombies are stated as acting under instructions of a cleric or mage; cockatrices and basilisks are stated as not being intelligent; elementals, djinn, and efreet are usually summoned creatures?
