The Core edition is now available through Lulu at stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=912860The pdf will be free, but the .doc version costs a buck. That puts $.80 into the project's pocket per purchase, which I'll use for art, etc. - yeah, I know, I'll raise all of $3.00 from this, but cash is tight at Casa Finch for this project and every bit counts. The cover is not in there yet, either! This is a document used for cutting and pasting to put your own house rules directly into the document. I figure that anyone who wants to use it for this purpose is probably willing to pay a dollar for it. The free .pdf version will be out once layout is done and the cover is ready. In a sense of tradition, though I couldn't figure out how to put graphics into their e-book cover, I picked the "brown" theme. If anyone wants to go buy it, I thank you and the project thanks you. For those who want to wait for the free pdf, that's completely fine. There's no art or formatting in this version, so it will be pretty boring unless you're using it to cut and paste. By the way, this is the CORE ruleset based on GH. It is NOT the White Box version I'm working on with Fin. That's not finished yet. Matt

As of Monday, I'll be making a slight change to the S&W draft, so if you've already bought it, email me so I can send the revised draft to you. The change will be to hit dice. Magic users will have 1d6-1, clerics will have 1d6+1, fighters will have 1d6+2, elves will have 1d6, and dwarves will have 1d6+2. This keeps the original feel of using the d6, makes nothing incompatible with other games, and results in the same average numbers. It's largely cosmetic.

For the core rules, monsters will use a d8. The d6 system will be in the WB edition. My use of d6-1 for Mu, d6+1 for cleric, etc, are, as you'll note, averages that correspond to the Supplement 1 hit die system, not to the White Box system. The WB system would be closest to d6-1, d6, d6+1. Which I think was Philotomy's suggestion (?). Someone ran the numbers and this was close, anyway.

I just bought bought this through Lulu. Although the description says it is a doc file. The download from Lulu is a pdf. A REAL pdf, not just a doc file renamed with pdf. Lulu must be converting the doc file you upload to PDF. This is a bit annoying as I wanted something I could edit.

PM me with your email address and I'll send you the .doc file. Nobody else has mentioned this. Did everyone else get a pdf as well?

Okay, it looks like that's exactly what's happening - Lulu is converting the .doc file into a pdf, which is bloody useless. And they don't seem to have a way of posting up a .doc file. Their documentation says that they accept .doc files, but what it means is that they accept them but turn them into a pdf for distribution.
I am really sorry about that glitch. Anyone who bought a copy, PM me with the email and I'll send you over an actual .doc file.
This means I'm going to pull the file off Lulu and as soon as I can find another way to host it, I'll do that.

Mythmere, do you have a paypal address or something so that I can get a copy of the doc? I just logged on to lulu.com and I guess you've taken the file down.

I think I'm having a problem with the page you linked to. All that is there is a "Old-school Gaming Primer" and some sort of spell suppliment. Am I missing something?

Would like to have a copy of the core rules in pdf or doc format either one is cool. Not intended to pressure you in anyway, just letting you know that I am interested in it.
