Random Name Tables for the Peoples of the FlanaessThis is just what it sounds like: a set of random tables including custom names for the various regions and peoples of the Flanaess. There are 68 tables, each with 50 names that can be randomized with a d100 roll. In addition to the geographical tables, there are racial tables for the playable PC races. These are based on Tolkein (because who else and why not?): Khuzdul for Dwarves, Quenya for elves, Sindarin for half-elves, Westron for gnomes, and the Black Speech for half-orcs. The "Other" table at the end of the document (for generic Flanaess names) is based on Numenorean. The random name generator I used didn't have a "Hobbit" category, so I used randomized "Arthurian" names for halflings, with some interesting results. Of course demihumans can always use human names from their geographical area of origin, rather than racial names. This document makes creating instant NPC names a cinch. In addition, players can use the tables for inspiration or even just roll random names for their PCs! Simple. The program I used to generate names for these tables was the Everchanging Book of Names, which has a supplementary "chapter" for the nations of the Flanaess. I urge anyone gaming in Greyhawk to download it and make frequent use of it: Everchanging Book of NamesEnjoy!

Awesome! I find Arthurian names for halflings to be fairly inspired...

Thanks! Some of the random "Arthurian" names turned out to be really Hobbity IMO: "Ferdrin", "Glirs", Henban", "Sorrel", "Tarjory", and (my favorite) "Perulaunard".

This single-page document is a companion of sorts to my Random Name Tables. It includes tables numbered from 1 to 20 to generate physical characteristics for the people of the Flanaess: skin tone, eye color, hair texture, and hair color, all based closely on Gary's original descriptions where possible. One table for each trait covers all the races and racial mixtures of the Flanaess, through the simple expedient of rolling different dice for different races. For example, pure Flan roll 1d8 for skin tone, yielding a result from 1 ("dark brown") to 8 ("golden brown"). Pure Suel, on the other hand, roll 1d4+16 for skin tone, yielding a result from 17 ("ruddy") to 20 ("albino"). It's that simple! Flesh out a PC or NPC from anywhere in the Flanaess in seconds. www.mediafire.com/view/ed252zdfr5g3e3l/Random_Physical_Characteristics_for_the_Peoples_of_the_Flanaess.pdf
