Hi all -
I am going through old submissions right now to figure out what belongs in FO! #15. Lot of good stuff in already!
However, as this is a dedication issue, I would like to know - is anyone planning articles specifically related to JEH, Zereth and Boinger, the original basic set (dungeon geomorphs?), the psychology of roleplaying, or similar issues?
Please drop Ig an email or reply here if you have such a submission in mind. Thanks!

Glad to hear it! Might want to re-send though, we didn't get it yet.
Also, does anyone have a picture of JEH we could use for the dedication page?

I am getting some cool ideas in email already, and we have a bunch of good old stuff hanging around too. I am going on vacation this weekend, but will check back in next weekend with some ideas on the shape of the new issue. Excited to be working on this again!

I mentioned this to you some time back, but I have the makings of a "Giants in the Earth" style of article based on the old Dragon magazine series. This would give general stats (usable for most OSR style games) and brief histories for Holmes' Boinger, Zereth and the ever-grumpy Murray the Mage of Magpie Street. I'll finish the write-up and hopefully have a chance to illustrate it.
Where should we send submissions?
Tony

Cool idea, Tony. Looking forward to it. I was just thinking yesterday about writing up something on the Dagonites based on their appearance in Maze of Peril.

Shouldn't you be writing a condensed version of your blog posts on the Holmes manuscript? (explaining what it is and quoting the significant rules changes might be nice...)

That's a good question!
I am planning, at the end of the manuscript series, to provide on my blog a post/document, tentatively called "Holmes Zero" (considering the manuscript to be a "0th edition") where I summarize the major changes to make if you have the Holmes rulebook but want to play according to the Holmes manuscript version. I thought about proposing this for Fight On, but I wasn't sure if would appeal to the general readership.

One more call on this. One thing that would be cool would be a one page rules mod that explained the special procedures of "Holmes D&D" to be used at any table - stuff like Dex Initiative, order of action, etc. that is distinctive for this version. If you wanted to be wonky about it you could even have a sidebar about the Perrin Document comparing and contrasting.
But in general other than the monsters and races subs I mentioned above what we're looking for this issue is Holmes stuff. Most of the rest is already taken care of. Hope to hear from a few more of you soon!

I have some of the stuff already written up, like the order of combat. "Make Your OSR Game More Like Holmes Basic"

Zenopus, you were actually just who we had in mind. Thanks!
Any other takers? Post, pm, or email. :-)

Billygalaxy posted this in his thread on the Acaeum: That picture appeared in the LA Times in 1979; it's credited as "Times photo by Tony Barnard" so is presumably under copyright by them or the original photographer. Probably not a good idea to use it in a commercial publication without proper permission(s). But I believe calithena has gotten some other photos to use.
