I like print better. But Fight On! is such a good magazine and I am so impatient, that the instant PDF seems the only way to go. As I said on Tenkar's blog, it's the best OSR/D&D magazine ever (including Strategic Review, The Dragon, old White Dwarf, etc.). Calithena and Ignatius (I assume you are different people?) should be very proud.
Is there any way to bribe you to go past 15?

Is there any way to bribe you to go past 15? As far as I remember, the main problem seems to be the time it takes to do layout. Perhaps somebody else would volunteer to do it? Share the burden...

I submitted an article for Fight On #14 in early 2012, and as of May 2012 was told it was planning on being used. But it's not there. I've emailed the Ignatious email address with no response.

Hi Zenopus!
It got lost on the cutting room floor with a lot of other stuff. We would still like to run it in the next issue if it is still available. Sorry for the mix-up!

I got my print copies in the mail on Friday. They were all messed up, just horribly collated with about a quarter-inch to a full inch chopped off the edges of the pages. Lulu are being dicks about it and have yet to respond to either my support message or e-mail.

Sorry about that, Ritt! Usually in the past lulu has made good on these kind of mistakes eventually and I hope that will be the case this time as well. If they remain unresponsive drop me or Ig a PM/email to let us know and we will try to contact them on your behalf. I hope you enjoy the issue when you finally get a good copy!

Lulu eventually graciously responded and gave me a refund. I'm a little peeved about how long it took.
In fairness, this was the first problem I ever had with Lulu (I've ordered from them maybe twenty or so times -all OSR games or related publications).

I had the same thing happen. The entire second half of the book had the printing cut off the last two letter widths of the articles. I look forward to reordering when the printing problems are fixed!

Has Lulu corrected the issue yet? I'm likewise eager to re-order this.

There's no corrections that need to be made AFAIK, they just screw things up coming off their printers sometimes. Presumably if you re-order now things will be OK. The two complaints on this thread are the only ones we've gotten (knock on wood). :-)

No, sorry, mine is clipped too. I contacted LuLu, and they said they were notifying you that you needed wider margins and were pulling the product until it was fixed. Sorry to derail things.

Yeah, I was coming here to say the same thing as aergraith. The email from Lulu said they were going to contact you about redoing the margins. I was wondering though, were the margins you set done for perfect binding and they did center staples? Would that throw off the measurements?

They were supposed to be for saddle stitch. They haven't had this problem before. I am glad you gave me a heads up, they disappeared the issue! Will check this out.

I just got mine, and I also have stuff cut off. It looks like the gutter margin is simply too wide, shoving the page text out to the point that it is getting lopped off at the outside.

Rafial - I am sorry! Can you let me know which page numbers have the problems, so we can fix them?

I should say that these are the same margins we have been using since issue 10 or so, so the problem is that Lulu or Lightning Source is doing something different. But we will make it good - no reason to put up with this!

Actually, if all of you with messed up copies could send Ig email at iggyumlaut on the gmails with page numbers of messed up pages, that would be very helpful.

It's literally every page, unless the layout for that page was well inside the standard margin.

My copy arrived here today in NZ but is OK. Mine is printed in Oz rather than the US like (I guess) most of the others. I have noticed that the margins in the gutter are large (1.4cm) and small along the outside edge (0.7cm). So there was certainly the possibility to have the edges chopped off but didn't happen for me. I ordered late Jan and it shipped on the 7th of Feb. I notice that the staples are larger and make a much more obvious split in the middle. The staples are such that the book bows open through the centre, different from all previous Lulu orders.
So yeah something has changed!

Glad it was OK, machpants! Most seem to be. We have made available a perfect bound edition www.lulu.com/shop/ignatius-umlaut/fight-on-14-20122013/paperback/product-21450757.htmlwhich should work fine while we review the PDF. Lulu will make good on any printing mistakes, and again, we are using the same margins as always - they are not printing the saddle stitch issues the same way as they used to. Hopefully new copies of older issues will not be effected! Best, Calithena

Got my perfect bound version. I THINK it has all of the letters there, but it's printed ALL THE WAY to the page edge, the edge of some letters is cut off. But I give up, this one will have to do.

Thanks, Labsenpai. Sorry, Aergraith. I am going to review the PDF again as soon as I can, but the issue is with a particular lulu printer, I am sure of it.
