I watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit? again about a month ago, and Eddie's toon gun gave an idea for magic arrows: video 1 video 2
Instead of just sticking some poor bastard like a regular arrow, a magic arrow gives out a warcry, pulls out a giant axe, and chops the guy in half. The larger the +, the bigger the axe.

Perhaps the number of pluses indicate how many steps are included; for instance, the first two examples would be +1 arrows, differing only in flavour, but gronanofsimmerya's example would be +3.

Good catch. One of my groupès wizards down the road somewhere summoned a magic bow that loosed a glowing fist of #$@%! for his missiles. The man also summoned mint juleps and cigars after big battles.
