Hi all, we have decided to give Next a try, as we are quite fed-up with all the inconsistencies in Castles & Crusades. We managed to convert all characters, but the Knight is quite elusive. To those who have had some Next experience, how would you do that? From what I have seen, Backgrounds are too "rules light" to implement the special abilities of the Knight. So probably this leaves the Fighter, which could be customised with a path? Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks, Antonio

From what I recall of both rulesets, doesn't the Knight have a lot of aid and buff abilities? I'd go with a paladin or bard with war college. In fact the paladin in my group might as well be a knight/cavalier. He has bonuses when charging and mounted due to some background he took (something to do with nobility if I remember right).

Antonio, I love you man, but I don’t know how you keep so many different rulesets straight. Everywhere I go, you’re talking 1e, BECMI, 2e, 3.0e, 3.5e, C&C, 4e, PF, 13th Age, and now 5e. Any I’m missing? ;-) Which ones have you actually run most recently (other than C&C which you just mentioned)?

LOL well, to be honest the ones I play are 1e, BECMI, 2e, 3.0e, and recently a bit of 13th Age. The others I talk about, but usually in less than flattering terms, 3.5 and PF in particular I have been interested in Next, but with the current group we decided it wasn't wise to move the ongoing Dragonlance campaign to a game still in playtest stage. So C&C is going on the chopping block, and we are converting the characters to 2e or 3.0e. I run BECMI when my friends and relatives visit from Italy; so I play it for a few days each year. 1e I have been running recently an online game, but I stopped. The current Dragonlance campaign started with 2e in mind, but due to the availability of the books we decided for C&C (huge error!) Now I am mostly fed-up with C&C's inconsistencies and broken rules, so we are moving to either 2e or 3.0e. 13th Age I had a few testing sessions. Oh, and I forgot a very short AS&SH campaign; love that game! And that's it I guess
