Just a short note to let folks know that I will be doing the first of my monthly video podcasts this Saturday, October 19th, at one p. m. local (Central US) time. It will go on-line live, through the 'Bloggie' camera, at this URL qik.com/chirine_bakalThe half-hour video will also be stored on the site along with the videos we did at the 'Braunstein' game we did in June. I'll be talking about gaming in Tekumel in the 1970s and 1980s, the various projects that I'm working on, such as "To Serve The Petal Throne", and our current gaming. If anyone has any questions about anything to do with Tekumel, please feel free to ask me and I'll try to answer them in the podcast. Thanks! yours, chirine

Much to my delight, everything worked! I ran a little long, but I had planned on having more material then I could cover in half an hour on the theory that I'd run out of fun stories. The 'archive' version of the show is up at: qik.com/chirine_bakal for your bemusement. Fell free to ask me questions that I can answer on the nest one! Thanks! yours, chirine

Chirine what a wonderful video! I'm looking forward to the next one! You have a wonderful basement, I wish I had a collection like yours! Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! I enjoy talking, as you can tell, and if there's anything I can talk about for you, please let me know. I'll pass along your compliments about the game room to The Missus; she lets me have the basement for my games and hobbies, and she's very understanding! The collection is what you get when you've been doing this kind of thing for some thirty-five years, and lived in the same little house for twenty-five of them! I'll talk more about the collection(s) in future podcasts, too. Thanks again! yours, chirine

Chirine, would you consider doing a presentation _in costume_ of some of the more common uses of the tsolyani language? I know it sounds like an odd request, but some "travel guide" expressions would be very helpful.
Also I am very envious of your Tekumel gaming collection. Would you consider editing in some close ups of your minis?
And props to your video, I enjoyed it and watched it in entirety.

I certainly can do some Tsolyani language stuff for you; I think at least one of the old costumes might fit... No, not an odd request at all! I am planning on having close-ups of the miniatures available; I'm going to do follow-up photos on both my blog and photobucket pages for people to have. The Sony 'Bloggie' isn't very good at close-ups - we tried! - but the three-camera professional-level video production set-up we have will do very nice ones. The latter does take a lot more set-up and operating, so we're going to be using it later in the process. In the meantime, here's the URLs for the blog and the Photobucket page: chirinesworkbench.blogspot.com/s1283.photobucket.com/user/chirinebakal/library/?sort=2&page=1I hope I got those right! The front page of the Photobucket site has the game I ran in June, and there are sub-albums that show other games I've done. I'll keep adding to this site as fast as I can - I take a lot of photos, and it takes a while to get them all up onto the site. I'm glad you liked the video! Thank you! yours, chirine

Chirine, old boot! he crooned...
I'm delighted I stumbled across this! This is a crazy month... I'm working nights and we're moving (about 100 yards) but I'm going to have to watch this Real Soon Now!
I was literally, honestly just thinking about you... placing bets at the Temple of Vimuhla on which of the sacrifices tied to the lightning attractors at the Temple of Karakan was going to get electrofrandibulized first.
That's probably the best bit of religion-based role playing I've ever seen in my life. (For those of you who don't know, the Tsolyani are avid gamblers and are notorious for being willing to bet on anything.)

That's probably the best bit of religion-based role playing I've ever seen in my life. (For those of you who don't know, the Tsolyani are avid gamblers and are notorious for being willing to bet on anything.) Hello! Good to hear from you - the podcast is also now up on You Tube, at: youtu.be/7XFYH8P93EkI think you'll be amused, and your reputation enhanced; I relate the story of how you, Captain Spaulding (The African Explorer) was trapped in the Great Sahara Mangrove Swamp (in "Search For The Nile", the game being played, one rolled for the terrain and marked it on a blank map of The Dark Continent; Our Hero was usually very unlucky...), and almost out of provisions and facing starvation. I'll not spoil the story for people - watch the video. I still think - speaking as a card-carrying Senior Military Sorceror of the Temple of Vimuhla, Lord of Flame and All-Round Great Guy - that the notion of clipping some hapless sacrifice to the electrodes and waiting for a passing thunderstorm - in the dry season, no less - is pretty much going to see to it that one's sacrifices are going to die of boredom or old age before Lord Karakan meets them. Just saying. Still offering six to one on the sacrifice, too. Bet you a kaitar... I should also mention that your old T-1b "Tsolyani Standard-bearer" figure is now on assignment with the Legion of Mnashu of Thri'il; I found a figure that matches Kathy's drawing, got the required number of them, and so your mediums now repose in one of the bins on the miniatures shelves. yours, chirine

Feel free to ask me questions - reply to this thread or e-mail... Thanks!

Are there any specific questions I can answer for you? I'm looking forward to the game in two weeks as well - it'll be a lot of fun, as we're revisiting the game session at Phil's where I had to fight my way into Hekellu with some Vriddi clan-guards. It got interesting, as we were supposed to be running the place, and we had to leave enough of the city intact so we could govern it... yours, chirine
