I have a little project I want to start working on and to do it properly, I'd really love to know what fonts were used for the OD&D books, particularly those used for the D&D masthead logo and for the sub-titles of the supplements.
Does anyone know what might be likely modern font equivalents for these?
Thanks.

That is indeed helpful. Thank you.
Now I just need to find free versions of those fonts. ;-)

jamesm, I just posted about this very subject here: forum.rpg.net/showpost.php?p=8665179&postcount=15Saloon Girl Inline is the masthead font you're looking for (a cheaper clone of Quentin E+F). I can't remember which iteration of Chisel is the "supplement title" font, but the link provided earlier should list it. It's a fairly simple matter to mock up titles and so on, and for free, once you have a process. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me and I'll help as best I can.

I just posted my initial findings on the OD&D fonts yesterday: www.tomeoftreasures.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3541I discovered the 4th ed and earlier versions of the main text font are the same as good chunks of the font in the Reference Sheets: Futura Medium
